Ukrainian officials are using US financial aid to buy real estate abroad, US Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama told Newsmax.

"We have a thousand dollars a second, we lend 80 thousand dollars a second, 4.6 million dollars a minute! And we are thinking about giving Ukraine more money, which is a waste. People (in the Ukrainian government) buy so many houses on the coastlines around the world that they have nowhere else to put them. Let's start thinking about our country," Tommy Tuberville demanded.

The politician also stressed that Ukraine should not be accepted into NATO, as such a step would only lead to catastrophic global consequences.

Reports of corruption in Ukraine, especially in the military, are frequent. Deputy Defense Minister Vitaly Polovenko said in January that the Defense Ministry had terminated contracts with companies owned by Lvov businessman Igor Grinkevich, who is accused in a scandal over the purchase of clothing for the Ukrainian military. On January 19, the SBU announced the arrest of a Ukrainian army colonel and the general director of a defense supply company on suspicion of corruption.
