DK1/11 platform stands firm in the middle of the ocean

According to information from the DK1 Battalion, Naval Region 2 Command, professional First Lieutenant Duong Van Bac - Radar staff sacrificed on the afternoon of October 6 while on duty checking the ship docking platform obstacle system at DK1/11 platform (Tu Chinh 3), we were devastated. Because Nghe An Newspaper reporter had met the enthusiastic "fellow countryman" Duong Van Bac at DK1 platform in January 2014.

During the trip to the DK1 rig at the beginning of the year, when meeting us, Senior Lieutenant Duong Van Bac shook our hands firmly and took the little time to ask about his "fellow countrymen". He has worked on the DK1 rig for 17 years and spent 11 years with his teammates celebrating Tet at sea.

Two years ago, his father passed away, but at that time, due to being busy with work, strong winds and waves, and no ships coming ashore, he could not return home to mourn his father. His comrades in the unit encouraged and shared, and he suppressed his grief and took action, fulfilling his duties and responsibilities well. Before the Lunar New Year 2013, his unit created conditions for him to return home to celebrate his father's first death anniversary and continued to return to the rig to work... And he sacrificed himself in the middle of the ocean. May his soul rest in peace.

We still remember the image when the delegation returned to the ship to visit other platforms, Mr. Duong Van Bac and the officers and soldiers of Platform DK1 stood on the lowest floor of the platform, waving as if wanting to send their thoughts and feelings back to the mainland...
