The first National Conference on Improving the Quality of Party Newspapers was held as a practical and meaningful activity. This is also an opportunity for Party committees, Party organizations, managers as well as Party journalists and the public to meet, exchange and discuss important and urgent topics to face difficulties and overcome challenges in the current context of many changes in the press.

The conference aims to affirm the position and improve the quality of the Party newspaper system, spread the spirit of innovation and creativity in both content and form, ensure the right, accurate and good goals; maintain the trust of cadres, party members and people and truly attract the public, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested that Party press agencies pay special attention to ideological orientation and public opinion work. Party press agencies need to constantly innovate in quality, enhance their role and position to better protect the Party's ideological foundation. Party press agencies need to regularly conduct comprehensive research on material facilities, science and technology, especially journalists in the current trend. They must go ahead, go along with the reality of life and the people, advise Party committees and authorities at all levels on ideological and political work. On that basis, Party newspapers must be modern and exemplary agencies and units of the Party.

At the Conference, delegates will focus on discussing issues related to strategic orientation, innovative ideas, creativity, and practical experience to improve the quality of local Party newspapers. In particular, they will discuss in depth some contents such as:Innovation in Party-building journalism;Removing difficulties in mechanisms and policies for Party newspapers;Improve content quality to maintain the position of Party newspapers;Digital transformation and modern journalism technology.

Through thematic discussions, delegates also focused on clarifying the requirements for innovation and creativity in Party-building journalism as well as ways to remove difficulties in mechanisms and policies for Party newspapers; solutions to improve content quality to maintain the position of Party newspapers.

Through research, survey, and synthesis using sociological statistical methods, at the Conference, Comrade Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association analyzed the role, position, and development trends of Party newspapers in the current period. In particular, he reflected on issues regarding mechanisms, policies, and human resources for Party newspapers. It is also the issue of applying social media in developing publications on many different platforms. Party newspapers also face the reality of innovation, quality improvement; awareness of digital transformation; budget issues for multi-platform development; difficulties in the digital transformation process, press economics issues, etc.

The Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper also said that one of the challenges of the Party newspaper in the current period is social media. Although social media has made an important contribution to solving the information needs of society and people. However, social media and social networks are also having negative impacts, causing difficulties for official press agencies, including the Party newspaper system. Related to social media are also fake news, bad news, and toxic news that have a negative impact on social life. A challenge for the press in the digital transformation trend is press robots.
