The Standing Committee of the Government meets with representatives of businesses.

This morning (October 4th), at the Government headquarters, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Standing Committee of the Government held a meeting with representatives of businesses on the occasion of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day.

Also attending were Deputy Prime Ministers Nguyen Hoa Binh, Tran Hong Ha, and Le Thanh Long; leaders of ministries and agencies; and 200 outstanding businesspeople representing various sectors and fields of the economy, as well as representatives of business associations.

The meeting was not only to commend, encourage, and motivate the contributions of Vietnamese entrepreneurs and the business community, but also to extend the series of activities involving listening, sharing, and exchanging ideas between the Prime Minister, the Government, ministries, and agencies with businesses – a crucial driving force for sustainable development at a time when the global and domestic economies are transforming according to new trends.

Over the past period, the Government has issued many policies to support businesses in their recovery and development, and has continuously strived to improve the investment and business environment.

According to data from the Business Registration Management Department, Ministry of Planning and Investment, the number of newly established and reactivated businesses in the first eight months of 2024 was 168,076, averaging 21,000 new businesses per month.

At the current growth rate, the number of newly registered businesses in 2024 will continue to exceed the 159,000 figure of 2023, marking the third consecutive year of record-breaking new business registrations. Excluding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021, the number of newly established businesses has consistently increased since 2015. Therefore, cumulatively from 2000 to the end of 2024, the number of newly established businesses will exceed 2.1 million.
