(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 29, in Vinh City, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee held a meeting of the Internal Affairs bloc for September 2023. Comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation chaired the meeting.

Attending the meeting were comrade Ho Le Ngoc - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee; leaders of the Provincial Party Committee Office, the Provincial People's Committee and agencies in the Internal Affairs sector.
NEW DISCOVERIES, EXPANDING INVESTIGATIONS IN A NUMBER OF CORRUPTION CASES
Assessment shows that during the month, political security and social order and safety in the area continued to be ensured.
The armed forces strictly maintain combat readiness, coordinate to grasp the situation, and ensure border and national security.
Organize storm and flood prevention and search and rescue drills in 2023 in Nghi Loc district to ensure safety; proactively grasp and advise on handling the situation, preventing complicated incidents from occurring.

The functional forces synchronously deployed measures to ensure good security and order in the area, especially ensuring absolute safety for Party and State delegations visiting and working in the province (during the month of the major political event, which is to disseminate and implement Resolution 39-NQ/TW of the Politburo in Nghe An).

The authorities have focused on directing drastic prevention work, launched many campaigns to fight, sweep and suppress all types of crimes and social evils; detected and strictly handled crimes such as: gambling crimes, firecracker trading, high-tech crimes.
Some types of crimes detected increased compared to the previous month such as: Crimes violating economic and environmental management order, drug crimes. New discoveries and expanded investigations of some corruption and negative cases.
During the month, there were 46 cases of crimes against social order, resulting in 1 death, 8 injuries, and property damage worth nearly 1 billion VND.
Notably, PC02 Department prosecuted 1 case, 1 defendant for human trafficking, including 7 victims (specifically, in Nghe An, there were 2 cases in Dien Lam commune, 2 cases in Dien My commune (Dien Chau district), 1 case in Nghi Quang (Nghi Loc); in other provinces, there was 1 case in Hai Phong, 1 case in Lai Chau). The defendant had permanent residence in Dien Lam commune (Dien Chau district).

Along with that, the authorities prosecuted 1 case, 1 defendant for fraud and property appropriation, clarified the amount of money appropriated of 12 billion VND, and blocked 1 illegal investment contract worth 4 billion VND;...
The authorities discovered 105 cases, arrested 145 drug offenders, seized 490 grams of heroin, 13.5 kg and 21,176 synthetic drug pills, and 5.5 kg of crystal meth (an increase of 38 cases and 57 offenders compared to the previous month).
Crimes and violations of the law on economic and environmental management order increased by 209 cases and 189 subjects compared to the previous month; specifically, 423 cases and 464 subjects were discovered and handled, mainly violations of environmental protection regulations; illegal exploitation and transportation of minerals; violations of food safety regulations;...
Nghe An province's authorities also continue to strengthen the detection and handling of corruption and negativity through inspection, supervision, investigation, handling of denunciations, and handling of information about crimes.
Accordingly, 2 cases and 5 defendants were prosecuted for the crime of "Abuse of power while performing official duties". Specifically, 1 defendant was formerly the Accountant of the People's Committee of Na Ngoi commune (Ky Son district); 1 defendant was formerly the Party Secretary, 1 defendant was formerly the Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, 1 defendant was formerly the Chief Accountant, 1 defendant was formerly an officer of the Land Administration of My Thanh commune (Yen Thanh district).

High-tech crimes continued to be detected, increasing by 3 cases and 3 subjects compared to the previous month. Specifically, in September, 7 cases and 10 subjects were detected; notably, 3 subjects were detected using computer networks, telecommunications networks, and electronic means to commit property appropriation in the form of appropriating money in bank accounts in Vinh city.
Investigation, prosecution and trial of cases continue to be carried out by the prosecution agencies in accordance with the law. A number of cases and cases under the supervision and direction of the Provincial Party Standing Committee are focused on by the sectors.
The Provincial Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negativity has proactively and effectively implemented its tasks; agencies, units and localities continue to pay attention to the work of receiving people, handling complaints, denunciations, petitions and reflections from citizens.
