The Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee will monitor and direct the case related to the Project to support the O Du people.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee chaired the July Internal Affairs Bloc meeting. Attending were representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches, sectors and units.

In July 2020, the security situation, social order and safety in the whole province continued to be stable. The sectors in the Internal Affairs sector organized and implemented tasks according to the unit's plan and the tasks assigned by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee in the Notice of Conclusion of the June 2020 Bloc Meeting.

The armed forces continue to maintain strict combat readiness and do a good job in preventing and fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. The authorities proactively grasp the situation and advise the Party Committee and the government to resolve cases right at the grassroots level. Crime prevention and suppression work continues to be effectively implemented; state management of security and order continues to be strengthened; protection, fire prevention and fighting, and disease prevention work continues to be promptly and effectively implemented.

Regarding crimes against social order, there were 74 cases, causing 1 death, 16 injuries, and property damage of about 0.8 billion VND. Regarding drug crimes, 131 cases were detected and arrested, 170 subjects were arrested, 2.43 kg of heroin and 70.5 kg of crystal meth were seized. Regarding crimes and violations of the law on economic and environmental management order, 218 cases were detected and 242 subjects were arrested.

The provincial police have handled and resolved 304 reports; prosecuted 283 cases/385 defendants; completed files to transfer to the People's Procuracy at all levels to propose prosecution of 251 cases/456 subjects.

The two-level prosecution agencies have strengthened coordination in investigating, prosecuting and trying cases in accordance with the law, especially cases directed by the Provincial Party Standing Committee and cases related to corruption. The Customs, Market Management and Forest Protection sectors have strengthened inspection, control and arrest of many cases related to trade fraud and trading in counterfeit and poor quality goods.

At the Conference, representatives of agencies in the bloc focused on reviewing and evaluating the progress of resolving outstanding cases and incidents, such as: The lawsuit of a number of households related to the Project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A; the violation case occurred at the Truong Son apartment building construction project in Cua Nam ward, Vinh city; the case of "Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences" related to compensation and site clearance for the Nghi Kim - Nghi Van drainage project (phase 1)...

The case of violations at the project to build a commercial complex and high-end apartments in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city, invested by Minh Khang Company Limited, was also analyzed and dissected. Regarding this case, on July 7, 2020, the Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 4364/UBND-CN assigning the Provincial Inspectorate to preside over a comprehensive inspection of the project to have a basis for direction and settlement in accordance with the provisions of law.

Regarding the case of "Asset embezzlement" related to the implementation of the Project on Socio-economic Support for the O Du ethnic minority people in the period of 2016 - 2025, it is identified as a sensitive case and of public interest; based on the recommendations and proposals of the agencies in the bloc, it will be put under the monitoring and direction of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee.

In August 2020, agencies in the Home Affairs sector continued to seriously, promptly and effectively implement the tasks according to the plan of each unit; advise the Party Committee and government to lead and direct the assurance of national security and social order and safety in the area.

Continue to effectively implement measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic; focus on handling and resolving complicated issues arising from the grassroots, not allowing hot spots of security and order to arise; step up crime prevention and control, launch high-profile campaigns to crack down on all types of crimes, especially murder, human trafficking, illegal credit, and eradicate drug rings, etc.
