This afternoon (September 27), in accordance with the Order No. 173/BCH-PCTT of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense, regarding the operation of the Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir to cut and reduce floodwaters downstream,Ban Ve Hydropower CompanyMeasures have been taken to regulate and significantly reduce the amount of floodwater flowing into the reservoir in recent days.
According to information from the North Central Region Hydrometeorological Station regarding the operation of the Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir to cut and reduce flooding downstream, the water inflow into the Ban Ve reservoir at 3 PM on September 27, 2023, was 1,469 m3/s.

The Head of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense of Nghe An Province has ordered the Director of Ban Ve Hydropower Company to release water downstream at a flow rate no greater than the inflow rate into the reservoir to mitigate flooding downstream. The discharge rate through the structure is from 300 m3/s to 800 m3/s (including the discharge rate through the spillway and the power generation rate through the turbines).
According to information from Ban Ve Hydropower Company, this afternoon, the unit reduced flood discharge to 430 m3/s, which means it has cut off 60% of the flood, ensuring safety for the downstream area.
