Ban Ve Hydropower Plant proactively reduces floods and protects downstream areas from the impact of storm No. 5
Faced with the direct impact of storm No. 5 causing heavy rain in the upstream area, Ban Ve Hydropower Plant has proactively implemented measures to regulate the reservoir to minimize the risk of flooding in the downstream area.

According to the report at 06:00 on August 26, 2025, the water flow to Ban Ve Lake reached 1,675m³/s, the lake water level was at 191.64m. To ensure the safety of the project and reduce the flow pressure downstream, the factory flexibly operated and regulated the reservoir with a total discharge flow of 600m³/s. Of which, the discharge flow through the spillway was 260m³/s through 4 surface discharge gates, and the flow through the generator was 340m³/s.

Mr. Ta Huu Hung - Director of Ban Ve Hydropower Company said: "We have closely monitored the water flow to the reservoir and closely coordinated with the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province to develop a reasonable flood discharge plan. The most important goal is to minimize the risk of flooding in the downstream area, while ensuring the safety of the project and the power system."
Ban Ve Hydropower Company said it will continue to update weather and hydrological conditions continuously, ready to adjust operating plans promptly, and minimize damage caused by floods.
