Nghe An sailor captured by Somali pirates has returned

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 25, 3 crew members (1 from Nghe An, 2 from Ha Tinh) were released by Somali pirates after more than 4 years of captivity and ransom demands and arrived at Noi Bai airport (Hanoi). Their families and relatives happily welcomed their children back from exile.

At the reception, in addition to the family members of the 3 crew members: Phan Xuan Phuong (residing in Nghia Yen commune, Nghia Dan district, Nghe An), Nguyen Van Ha (born in 1981, residing in Ky Khang commune, Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh) and Nguyen Van Xuan (born in 1981, residing in Ky Trinh ward, Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh), there were also representatives of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Overseas Labor Management and the company that sent the 3 people to work abroad on fishing boats.

Speaking by phone from Noi Bai International Airport, Mr. Phan Xuan Linh - father of crew member Phan Xuan Phuong said that after leaving the airport, all 3 crew members were taken to Trang An General Hospital (Hanoi) to check their health status, then they will meet with the labor export company to discuss support and assistance plans.

As reported, in April 2011, three crew members Phan Xuan Phuong, Nguyen Van Ha and Nguyen Van Xuan paid to go to Taiwan to work on a tuna fishing boat with a salary of 300 USD/month.In May 2012, the families of the three crew members received news that three crew members were captured by Somali pirates and held for ransom while working on the fishing vessel FV Naham 3.

On October 22, the Somali government said that pirates off the coast of the country had released 26 Asian hostages they had kidnapped four years ago in the Indian Ocean, including three Vietnamese.
