On the morning of January 16, the Central Propaganda Department organized the January 2025 Reporters Conference in both in-person and online formats. Comrade Phan Xuan Thuy - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department chaired the conference.

At Nghe An bridge, comrade Tran Quoc Khanh - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department informed reporters of the Politburo's opinions on comprehensive solutions in foreign affairs, including the issue of Cambodia implementing the Funan Techo Canal Project.

At the central bridge, reporters nationwide were informed by comrade Tran Quoc Phuong - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment on the topic "Overview of the socio-economic situation in 2024; forecast of the situation and socio-economic development plan for 2025".

Accordingly, the socio-economic situation of our country in 2024 continues to show a clear recovery trend, with growth gradually improving month by month and quarter by quarter. Many important indicators and indicators on growth, economic scale, GDP per capita, inflation, labor productivity, enterprises, FDI attraction, culture, social security, employment, people's lives, etc. have achieved outstanding results.

Specifically, GDP in 2024 is estimated to increase by 7.09% over the previous year. In the total added value increase of the whole economy, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 3.27%, contributing 5.37%; the industry and construction sector increased by 8.24%, contributing 45.17%; the service sector increased by 7.38%, contributing 49.46%.

State budget revenue in 2024 is estimated to increase by 16.2% compared to the previous year. State budget expenditure is estimated to increase by 5.7% compared to 2023, ensuring the needs of socio-economic development, national defense, security, State management, payment of due debts as well as timely payment to subjects according to regulations.

Also on the morning of January 16, comrade Nguyen Hung Son - Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy informed the topic "Overview of the world situation, foreign affairs and diplomacy activities of the Party and State in 2024; forecast of the world situation and foreign affairs and diplomacy tasks in 2025".

In 2024, the world situation continues to fluctuate very complicatedly, with many new issues, exceeding forecasts compared to previous years, clearly promoting the formation of a multipolar, multi-center, multi-layered world order characterized by instability, unpredictability and many risks.

In that context, under the direct and regular leadership of the Politburo, the Secretariat, Party and State leaders and the Prime Minister, diplomatic work has been deployed proactively, synchronously, creatively and effectively, continuing to make important contributions to firmly consolidating a peaceful and stable environment, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development, protecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, while continuing to enhance Vietnam's international position and prestige.

During the year, Party and State leaders conducted 59 foreign affairs activities, including 21 visits to foreign countries and attending multilateral conferences; welcoming 25 delegations of foreign leaders to visit Vietnam. Over 170 new cooperation agreements in many fields, especially in fields of Vietnam’s needs and interests, were signed.

Regarding oral propaganda work in 2024, the report of the Central Propaganda Department has clearly shown many positive results. Over the past year, the team of reporters at all levels continued to closely follow and seriously implement the direction of the Central Propaganda Department, constantly striving to innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of oral propaganda. Along with that, training work continued to be seriously implemented, continuously updating new knowledge for the team of reporters. However, besides that, there are still some limitations such as some information content and delivery methods are not vivid; equipment as well as regimes and policies for the team of reporters are still limited,...

Concluding the conference, comrade Phan Xuan Thuy - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department oriented some propaganda contents in the coming time, in which, emphasized the need to continue to effectively implement Directive No. 30-CT/TW of the Secretariat on oral propaganda work in the new situation.

The team of reporters needs to improve quality, innovate, and diversify oral propaganda methods, thereby promptly propagating major events and important holidays of the country in 2025, actively fighting against distorted and destructive arguments.

At the conference, the Central Propaganda Department also commended 9 collectives and 11 individuals with outstanding achievements in oral propaganda work in 2024.
