US fighter jet crashes in Florida

An F-18 fighter jet crashed into the water in Key West, Monroe County, Florida, and a pilot ejected from the plane around 4:30 a.m. local time, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokesman Adam Linhardt said. It was unclear whether there were one or two pilots on board.
The Miami Herald quoted witnesses as saying that the plane appeared to have exploded in mid-air.
There is currently no information about casualties or damage caused by the accident, as the plane crashed into an uninhabited body of water.
Immediately after the accident, rescue forces were dispatched to the scene. Currently, authorities have opened an investigation to find the cause of this accident.
