Striker Cong Phuong: I am very confident for tomorrow's match against Syria

As planned, the Vietnam National Team will end the FIFA Days campaign in June 2023 with a friendly match against the Syrian National Team at 7:30 p.m. on June 20 at Thien Truong Stadium (Nam Dinh).

Sharing before the friendly match, striker Nguyen Cong Phuong made some remarkable statements about his goals in this match.

Striker Cong Phuong affirmed that what he learned from the Japanese football environment will be of great help to the Vietnamese team.

"For the first time under the new head coach, my team and I are trying our best to get used to the coach's tactics, determined to contribute to a good match, bringing good results towards the future of Vietnamese football,"Cong Phuongshow determination before the match against Syria.

Before returning to Vietnam to play for the Vietnamese national team, Cong Phuong had not played a single minute in the J-League (Japan). The striker from Nghe An admitted that he had encountered many difficulties, but was confident that he would have his best performance in the match against Syria at Thien Truong Stadium.

Assessing the efforts of the players, including Cong Phuong, coach Philippe Troussier said: "For me, intensity and tactical play are what players need to do in international matches. The players are making efforts, similar to what I have witnessed in Japan.

I feel very positive about the squad I have, every player is trying to show themselves. I told the players that we have to surpass Southeast Asia because we have won the regional championship many times. If we want to surpass and play on par with strong teams, we have to be more proactive, wiser, more skillful, and more careful in open situations, not just waiting for set pieces.

They have to push themselves individually and collectively. The match against Syria is an opportunity for them to prove what they want to show."
