Tien Minh lost to 19-year-old opponent, losing the championship
After 33 minutes of competition, Tien Minh lost 0-2 (10-21, 14-21) to Kanta Tsuneyama in the final match of the Finland Open held yesterday, April 10.
In July 2015, Tien Minh faced Kanta Tsuneyama for the first time, when the number one Vietnamese tennis player lost quickly 0-2 (13-21, 21-21). Nine months later, the same result happened. Tien Minh continued to lose, losing the championship to his opponent, who is only 19 years old this year.

Tien Minh is currently ranked 36th in the world and is the number one seed in the Finland Open. However, in the final, he played completely below his opponent who was 54 places lower.
Right at the start of the first set, Tien Minh let his opponent score six points in a row, leading 6-0. At one point, the gap between the two sides increased to 14 points (19-5). Without much difficulty, Kanta Tsuneyama won the first set with a score of 21-10.
In the second set, Tien Minh played better, both sides fought for each point in the early stages. But after the number one seed of the tournament equalized 4-4, Kanta Tsuneyama continuously took the lead with his fierce attacking play.
Now 33 years old, Tien Minh was at a disadvantage physically and quickly gave up the match with a score of 14-21, sadly watching his opponent lift the championship title.
