Receiving Thai students for friendship exchange with Vietnamese families

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 4, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province organized a friendship exchange meeting to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand (December 5, 1927 - 2017).

At the ceremony, delegates also reviewed the traditional activities of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association through the years, affirming the association's positive contributions to the construction and development of Nghe An province, especially in people-to-people diplomacy, fostering friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand.

The Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province has been established, operated and continuously developed for 15 years. In 2016, the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province had many effective innovations in people-to-people diplomacy activities such as establishing and strengthening friendly relations with the northeastern provinces of Thailand.

Currently, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province has established direct relations with the Thai - Vietnamese Associations of Na Khon Pha Nom, Xa Kon Na Khon, Bung Can, Noong Khai, U Don Tha Ni, Khon Ken provinces.

During the year, the Association coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade and 4 enterprises of Nghe An province to attend a seminar on trade, investment cooperation, culture, and tourism between Vietnamese and Thai provinces via Highways 8 and 12; Attended a seminar on trade, investment cooperation, culture, and tourism between Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

The two sides regularly exchange, grasp information, coordinate to act as a bridge and focal point for all levels, sectors, and enterprises to strengthen and expand cooperation in many fields between Nghe An partners and partners of the Northeastern province of Thailand. Currently, many Thai enterprises are operating in Nghe An. In addition, during the year, the association also awarded Certificates of Merit to Thai students in Nghe An with excellent academic achievements.

At the friendly exchange, the association members also agreed on the direction and objectives of activities in 2017. Accordingly, with the motto "Proactive, flexible, diverse, creative and practically effective", the association continues to innovate and further improve the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy activities in 2018; contributing to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the Vietnamese people in general, the people of Nghe An province in particular, and the people of Thailand.

Also at the exchange, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province organized a ceremony to receive 15 Thai students from Vinh University to participate in friendship exchanges at Vietnamese families under the Homestay program - Receiving international students for friendship exchanges at Vietnamese families of the Nghe An Provincial Friendship Organization Cooperation Association.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Nghe An province and Mr. Nguyen Sy Thuy - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam - Thailand Conference of Nghe An province; Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations awarded certificates of merit to 4 individuals with outstanding achievements in people-to-people diplomacy.
