CWe were truly surprised to learn that in 2013, while many businesses operating in the agricultural sector faced difficulties and losses, the Nghe An Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Corporation still achieved great success. Revenue reached 1,250 billion VND, profit 75 billion VND, and tax contributions to the state budget were 15.9 billion VND. Compared to the plan, revenue reached 136%, profit reached 450%, and tax contributions reached 106%. Notably, the capital did not diminish but continued to generate profit. The most impressive figure was the dividend of 20%. The company is among the top 500 strongest enterprises nationwide.

According to Mr. Truong Van Hien, General Director of the Corporation and Labor Hero, in 2013, the operations of Nghe An Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Corporation were deeply affected by the general difficult economic context. In particular, due to the economic downturn and the successive natural disasters, storms, and floods, the purchasing power and investment capacity for agriculture were limited, making production and business extremely difficult for the enterprise. For the Corporation, a unit specializing in agricultural materials, the traditional business of importing, exporting, and supplying fertilizers was stagnant, as these items (phosphate, urea) were already produced domestically to balance the supply. On the other hand, the seed and fertilizer business also faced fierce competition from the market mechanism. To survive and develop, the unit focused on producing compound fertilizers, coupled with improving service quality, and shifted investment strongly towards the production of advantageous products and industries.

Specifically, the Corporation has decisively directed and strictly controlled all stages from raw material procurement, production, product quality to packaging, transportation, and delivery to farmers, ensuring good quality. In particular, given the farmers' lack of capital for production, to ensure farmers have access to fertilizers, especially high-quality compound fertilizers for intensive crop cultivation, the unit continues to implement a policy of providing advance loans for NPK compound fertilizers with deferred payment. For low-content NPK fertilizers such as 8-10-3, 5-10-3, 3-9-6..., the unit provides loans with deferred payment at an interest rate of 0.4%; for high-content NPK fertilizers (15-5-20, 16-16-8) and seeds and fertilizers for model construction, loans are granted for 6 months without interest. The corporation also collaborated in building large-scale model fields using a method where the unit sent staff to guide intensive farming techniques, invested in seeds and fertilizers, and at the end of the season, farmers only paid the principal amount. This truly helped poor farmers overcome difficulties and promote intensive farming to increase productivity and economic efficiency in the fields. In 2013, the total value of fertilizers and seeds invested and lent under this policy reached 202 billion VND, including 150 billion VND in the winter-spring crop and 52 billion VND in the summer-autumn crop. This was a truly significant amount of advance loan capital; many worried about "scattering rice everywhere and not knowing when to gather it all," but at the end of the season, the farmers did not disappoint and paid the company in full.

In addition, the company is committed to guaranteeing the quality of seeds and fertilizers, and signing a commitment to purchase all the rice produced under the large-scale model farm, at market prices for varieties such as Khang Dan, Q5, and hybrid rice; plus 10% for the Vat Tu-NA2 variety, and 15-20% for purebred DT68 rice... This creates a strong bond between the enterprise and farmers, while also developing the rice milling and polishing line with a capacity of 10 tons/hour in the Southeast Economic Zone, gradually closing the loop in the supply of fertilizers and seeds and purchasing and guaranteeing the sale of harvested products for farmers, effectively implementing a sustainable business strategy.

It is encouraging that in its production and business activities, the unit is no longer limited to domestic business within the province but has expanded to other provinces, leveraging its advantages. For example, it has collaborated with the People's Committees of districts in the provinces of Ha Tinh, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, and Dak Lak to build "large-scale model fields" for purebred rice varieties such as Vat Tu-NA2, DT68, and Nam Dan red rice, covering an area of over 4,000 hectares; and invested over 113 billion VND to acquire divested state-owned shares, becoming a strategic shareholder and controlling shareholder of Dak Lak Agricultural Materials and Foodstuff Joint Stock Company with an ownership stake of over 55% of the charter capital. This investment orientation aims to diversify its business areas while helping the corporation gradually access and expand its fertilizer and seed supply areas, continuously improving its efficiency and operational position. The excitement following a year of investment in Dak Lak Food and Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Company has resulted in a profit of 65 billion VND.

Production has developed, and the employment and living standards of cadres and workers have not only stabilized but also grown. The average income of employees reached 5,700,000 VND/month, equivalent to 127% of the shareholder resolution. Specifically, the Dak Lak Food and Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Company achieved 7,500,000 VND/person/month. In addition to ensuring employee benefits, the company actively participates in and leads social, charitable, and humanitarian activities. In 2013, the Corporation contributed 2,436 million VND, including over 1.8 billion VND for the souvenir shop under the "Preservation and Restoration of Truong Bon Historical Site" project, 170 million VND for flood relief, 80 million VND for the "Fund for the Poor" and "Victims of Agent Orange," and 80 million VND for educational support.

It can be said that these results not only demonstrate the talent and dedication of the staff but also affirm the enterprise's position in the market mechanism. Building on the success of 2013, entering 2014, a year predicted to be full of difficulties, the Corporation has also outlined solutions to overcome difficulties, improve service quality, boost production and business, expand markets, and ensure the supply of increasingly more and better seeds and fertilizers to meet the needs of intensive farming in the fields and the purchase of agricultural products, especially rice, from farmers. In the early days of 2014, the Corporation is also embarking on the implementation of a series of operational plans: Linking with localities to build model fields according to the policy of the Provincial People's Committee with pure rice varieties DT68, Vật tư-NA2, corn variety LVN 14, peanut variety L26; Project "Production of certified rice seeds giai đoạn 2009 - 2015" in the province; Building the brand of specialty rice "Nam Dan Red Rice"; cooperating with the Institute of Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science and Vedan Vietnam Company to research and add safe biological preparations to NPK fertilizers to increase the nutritional value of agricultural products; upgrading and improving the technical infrastructure of the Kim Lien seed production farm (Nam Dan) to contribute to better research and development of high-yield, high-quality crop varieties to serve agricultural production... From there, striving to achieve and surpass the 2014 targets: Revenue of 1,200 billion VND, average income of over 5 million VND/person/month, and tax contribution of 15 billion VND.
