Continue to promote the role and position of prestigious people in ethnic minority areas

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 19, 154 ethnic minority delegates from Nghe An province attended the ConferenceFirst time honoring prestigious people in ethnic minority areas.

According to the report of the Provincial Ethnic Committee, in 2017, the whole province had 1,252 prestigious people of the Thai, Tho, Mong, Kho Mu, O Du, Kinh, Nung, Hoa and Dan Lai ethnic groups.

Prestigious people in ethnic minority communities have a very large position, role and scope of influence, are always exemplary and pioneers in movements, and at the same time mobilize people to comply with the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's laws as well as local regulations.

To affirm and promote the role and position of prestigious people in the community, the Party, the State and the authorities at all levels always pay attention and issue special policies. Every year, the Provincial People's Committee allocates funds to subscribe to Nghe An newspaper, Ethnic and Development newspaper, publish Ethnic Newsletter, organize training courses, organize study tours, support regimes during Lunar New Year, and visit when sick.

The conference affirmed that, in recent times, prestigious people in ethnic minority communities have made important contributions in the following areas: Propagating and mobilizing people to implement the Party's guidelines and policies and laws of the State; building the grassroots political system and the great national unity bloc; maintaining security, national defense and social order and safety, preserving and promoting national cultural identity.

At the conference, delegates discussed and exchanged experiences in mobilizing people to build solidarity, new cultural lifestyles, develop production, push back social evils and preserve and promote national cultural identity.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong requested all levels and sectors to continue researching and investing in infrastructure construction, improving the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities, and strengthening people's trust. Implement ethnic policies well, especially policies for prestigious people in the community.

At the same time, encourage prestigious people to continue promoting their role, position and experience to build and consolidate the great solidarity bloc, continue to mobilize people to promote socio-economic development, and contribute to the good implementation of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.

On this occasion, 19 delegates received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, 135 delegates received Certificates of Merit from the Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee. At the same time, Nghe An Newspaper presented 11 gifts to delegates who are prestigious people who use, preserve and promote the effectiveness of the Newspaper's publications.
