Revealing the salary of Khai So Khanh and the supporting cast of 'The Judge'

"If you are not truly passionate about it, it is very difficult to pursue acting. Because artists can hardly make a living from their TV show salary," actor Anh Duc shared.

Actor Anh Duc, who plays Khai So Khanh in the movie Nguoi phan chan, calls his recognition by the audience "unexpected fame". After nearly 12 years of acting, this is the first time his role has been so loved and accepted.

- Just a supporting character with a brief appearance in a few scenes, what do you think makes the audience "crazy" about Khai So Khanh?

The role of Khai So Khanh helped Anh Duc become unexpectedly famous after more than 12 years of wandering around with obscure roles.

- Khai So Khanh is a character with its own color, very cheerful and humorous. The task of this role is to balance the tension and tragedy of the film. Besides the dramatic scenes that make the audience suffocate, Khai's appearance is a way to relax their emotions, ready for the next thrilling film situation.

At first, when I received the script, I was very excited and confident that my role would leave an impression. However, I was really surprised to be especially loved by the audience as it is now.

- Becoming a star in one step, surely your income has increased significantly at this time?

- Honestly, saying it's "cheap" is a bit too much, but the salary for acting in TV dramas is very low, especially for extras and supporting roles like mine. Normally, these roles are only paid per segment, each segment is from 300,000 - 500,000 VND.

The income from acting is negligible, not enough to make a living, I perform mainly because of passion. Of course, when an artist is known, there will be many opportunities to increase income from other jobs. But I am reserved, rarely accept advertising so I am still... poor.

- Being broadcast at the same time, "Living with Mother-in-law" and "The Judge" are often compared in terms of popularity. Many people think that "Living with Mother-in-law" created a big fever in the first episodes but its appeal gradually decreased, while "The Judge" was thrilling until the end. As an actor who participated in both films, what is your opinion?

- Honestly, right from the start of filming, I was more interested in the movie The Judge. Maybe because my role had a lot of room to play. But on the other hand, I found the script of The Judge to be more novel and thrilling than the theme of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, which is not new. In The Judge, many thrilling and attractive details follow one another, bringing the audience enough emotions.

As for Living with Mother-in-law, maybe in the first episodes, the audience will easily accept a familiar and close topic with mothers and sisters... But later on, people will realize that Mrs. Phuong is a synthesis of many troublesome mothers in society. I think there cannot be a mother-in-law with so many bad habits.

- Some people say that the "domineering" lines of Khai So Khanh in the movie are too fictional. Could there be such a silly guy in real life?

- I play the role of a very flirtatious but extremely cowardly Don Juan. At first, he only intended to have a fling with Phan Huong but then had to become an unwilling son-in-law in the boss's family.

When a lowly man lives in the midst of a powerful wife's family, he is always in a state of anxiety and fear. When he is in a difficult situation, he can completely do such foolish things and say such foolish things.

Another part is that the director also wanted to exaggerate to increase the humor of the character. Every action and silly line of Khai So Khanh was enthusiastically shared by the audience on social networks.

- You act silly scenes very well, but your hot scenes are even better. What's your secret?

- This is the first time I've done a hot scene but it doesn't seem to be difficult. I often tell Thanh Huong: "Let's try our best to film it in one take."

Having acted together many times, Huong and I worked well together. When the director called start, we jumped into the act. I kissed Thanh Huong like I was kissing my wife at home, a kiss with all real emotions.

- Does that mean you feel really moved when acting intimate scenes with beautiful co-stars?

- I don't know about other actors, but I personally can't develop feelings during filming because I'm quite focused and stressed at that time. I consider my co-star as my lover to act emotionally and realistically. But I know what is a movie and what is real life. For me, the story of a fake movie and real love is something that never happens.

Of course I am a man, I am also moved by beauty. I consider men looking at women as the way to enjoy a work of art. Not bad, not blameworthy, but need to know when to stop. I have a family and all the emotional turmoil will disappear after returning home.

- In the movie, you were "tied up" by Phan Huong. In real life, have you ever been "attacked" by a woman?

- I work at the Academy of Music so I get to meet a lot of female students. Before I was single, many female students liked me and texted me flirting.

But because I have had a girlfriend for almost 7 years, I always choose to tactfully decline so that they understand. Now I am old, have a wife and children, so where can all the "kids" run away to (laughs).

- Acting gives you the opportunity to meet many beautiful co-stars. How does your wife react to this?

- We had been in love for 7 years before getting married, so we understood each other's personalities very well. My wife always trusted me completely, and was especially sympathetic and supportive of her husband's acting career.

Sometimes she also joked: "You seem to be famous these days, known by many people, it's very possible that in the future there will be many beautiful young women who admire you, but I'm getting older and uglier. I wonder if you will leave me then?". I knew my wife was just joking, so I calmly replied: "I can't say that yet."

- What are your plans for the future? Will you continue to pursue comedic roles or change things up with a serious role?

- I want to try many types of roles to see what I can do. I hope for a positive role with a lot of room to perform, but of course it depends on fate. If there is a good, suitable script, I will enthusiastically accept it.
