According to Mr. Duong Manh Hung, V.League referees currently have an income of about 35-40 million VND/month.

As a person who is very knowledgeable about refereeing in Vietnam and won the golden whistle in 2006, Mr. Duong Manh Hung has made frank analysis of some of the burning issues for the "black shirt kings" on the V.League pitch at that time, and also revealed surprising information that not everyone knows.

According to Mr. Hung, he used to give a lot of advice to his juniors, but most of them did not listen because there was always a force standing up to "protect" them.

According to former golden whistle Duong Manh Hung, the income of referees in V.League is now very high, dozens of times higher than in his time, even higher than the average level of players, so it is shameful for them to "deliberately do wrong" or try to ignore mistakes.

“While Vietnamese referees are always covered up, even caught doing wrong, so they are weak and lose confidence, that is right. From the time I started working as a referee in 1996, 1997, until now I have retired for 10 years, is there any referee who dares to be as straightforward as me?

I do it for love, for passion, not for this life or that. In the past, my salary was only 3.5 million, now their salary is 35-40 million and they still do bad things. If I did bad things in the past, it would be very different. I don't have any personal grudges against anyone, it's just that when people are wrong, I want things to be better.

In V.League, each main referee who controls a match is currently paid 8 million VND by VPF. Assistant referees including linesmen, table referees and referee supervisors receive 5 million VND.
