The South Korean public was so curious about former South Korean President Park Geun-hye's prison life that they closely followed the weekly menu of inmates at Seoul Detention Center.

According to Dispatch, the food at Seoul Detention Center is better than the average school lunch. The menu includes Western dishes such as bread, soup, and salad as well as traditional Korean dishes such as rice cake soup, chapjae noodles, and kimchi stew.

The menu also focuses on the health of inmates at Seoul Detention Center with chicken stew and seaweed beef soup.

"In the past, prisoners were only fed rice and beans, but things have changed now," according to a 2015 KBS TV report.

A meal at Seoul Detention Center costs approximately 1,500 won (VND 30,000).

Most Korean netizens expressed their dissatisfaction with the above menu because they believed that criminals were living in a better environment than law-abiding citizens.

One netizen even expressed anger and skepticism about the fact that prisoners are given decent meals.

"Many students do not have enough money for a hot meal, have to go hungry or buy kimbap (seaweed rice rolls) from convenience stores. How can the former president, who committed a serious crime against the country, be treated so well?"
