Present at Vinh market on the afternoon of January 22, the bustling conversation of the traders was not about business even though the atmosphere of Tet shopping had begun to bustle, but instead about football.
Along with the comments on the resounding victory of the U23 Vietnam team against the Iraq team are the opinions and plans to cheer for the team before tomorrow's decisive match against the U23 Qatar team.
“People in the market are crazy about football, not only men but also many women. In the match against Iraq, when player Bui Tien Dung kicked the last free kick into the net, I could hardly stand. Then I went down to the street to celebrate the victory with everyone,” said Nguyen Tuan Anh, the owner of a bag stall.
As a former sports player, he assessed that the Vietnamese players played very bravely, giving the audience beautiful goals.
Commenting on the match between Vietnam and Qatar, he said that this is a strong team and the other team will definitely study their tactics more carefully, but he still hopes that with the guidance of coach Park Hang Seo, the Vietnamese team can create a miracle.
Although she is a woman but with a passion for football, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu - the owner of a clothing stall, closely followed the U23 matches, especially the quarter-final match on January 20. "It's been a long time since I've seen such a good match. I'm especially proud because our Nghe An team has contributed 3 players: Cong Phuong, Xuan Manh and Van Duc, including 2 players from Song Lam Nghe An. If we win tomorrow's match with Qatar, it will be great, but if we don't win, I think reaching the semi-finals is enough for my love for the Vietnamese team," Ms. Thu said.
While quickly selling his goods and sharing with us, Mr. Nguyen Huu Toan - also the owner of a clothing stall, excitedly said: "Although today has started to be crowded with customers buying Tet goods, it is all for our team, so tomorrow afternoon I will not hesitate to close the stall to rest and then go with all my brothers to watch and cheer for the players. I pray that our team will win against Qatar"./.
