Mr. Luu Trung Kien, Deputy Director of Pu Mat National Park, said: The cause of the wild boar deaths is unknown and there are no signs of hunting. Pu Mat National Park has also sent a notice to the People's Committees of Con Cuong and Tuong Duong districts, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the province, and taken measures to collect samples for testing.

It is known that this is the first time that a large number of wild boars have died in Pu Mat National Park. Suspecting that the disease is spreading in the wild boar population, the unit is coordinating with the authorities and the Veterinary Department to clearly verify the cause, from which recommendations on disease prevention and control for other wild species, as well as livestock, can be made because the disease can spread through water sources to surrounding villages in the buffer zone of Pu Mat National Park.

Wild boar is a type of wild animal, specifically an animal belonging to the class Mammalia, order Artiodactyla, and family Suidae. In animal classification in Vietnam, wild boar is often managed under the group of wild animals, because they live in the natural environment and have not been domesticated like domestic pigs. This species plays an important role in the ecosystem but is also hunted a lot due to its economic value, so it needs to be protected and managed properly.

Pu Mat National Forest is over 94,000 hectares wide, stretching across three districts: Anh Son, Con Cuong and Tuong Duong. Here, there are thousands of rare wildlife species, many of which are endangered and listed in the Vietnam Red Book and need to be protected at the national and international levels.
