On the morning of March 3, 2017, Nghe An Department of Health had the final report on the cluster of cases of Glomerulonephritis in Hanh Dich commune, Que Phong district that caused the death of 2 students. Accordingly, the cause of the cluster of cases was due to group A streptococcal infection.

The cause of the cluster of cases was determined from the test results of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology testing blood samples of students with acute glomerulonephritis in Hanh Dich; from the test results of the Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health testing drinking water samples, domestic water at the family of 2 deceased patients, at Hanh Dich Secondary School and houses near the Secondary School. The test results showed that the chemical indexes in the water samples were all within the allowable limits.

Up to now, the disease situation in Hanh Dich commune has been controlled. Authorities at all levels, functional agencies and people have actively implemented environmental sanitation and personal hygiene; 100% of people have been given PenicillinV to prevent disease.
