Another body found in sunken ship in Nghe An

After bringing Nguyen Van Duong's body to shore, diving teams, SAR ships, trawlers, canoes, and CQ boats carrying rescue forces continued to search and rescue around the area where the ship sank.According to the reporter's observation, the sea water in the area where the ship sank was quite murky and the waves were calm.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center said: This afternoon, divers will search the remaining parts of the VTB 26 ship including: the cabin area on the first floor, part of the second floor and the engine room.

According to information, the diving team found the body of this crew member trapped in the VTB26 ship. The body was discovered on the second floor of the sunken ship.This ship has 3 floors and a cockpit floor. Currently, the owner of the VTB 26 is on the rescue ship to show the ship's diagram to the diving team.
The body was identified as Nguyen Van Duong, an engineer officer, from Hai Phong.

On the morning of July 19, in addition to stepping up the search for the four missing crew members, authorities also carried out discharge procedures and handed over the rescued crew members to their families. |
The SAR ship is currently bringing the body to the wharf. The weather in Cua Lo is currently quite favorable for the search, sunny and calm sea.
An ambulance was waiting at the pier. Dozens of soldiers were present to receive the body that had just been found.
At 10:30 a.m., the SAR ship docked and brought the body ashore. An ambulance took the body of the crew member to the hospital for identification.
The SAR ship then returned to the location of the sunken ship to continue the search.Divers continue to search the VTB 26.

In addition to focusing on searching the area where the ship sank, the search force is currently mobilizing 3 ships and a jet ski to search Nghi Huong beach area after receiving information from local people that they saw a body floating in this area.
Previously, after 2 days of searching, 4 crew members on the VTB 26 ship that capsized in the Hon Ngu sea area in the early morning of July 17 were still not found. Although the rescue ships had been searching the sea, they still could not find the crew members. After discussion, the rescue forces decided to use the plan of using a team of divers to approach the VTB 26 ship to search for the crew members.

At 5:00 a.m. on July 19, SAR 274 of the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center brought a team of professional divers from Hai Phong to the area where the VTB 26 ship sank to search for the four missing crew members.
At 6am, SAR 274 approached VTB 26. The location of the sunken VTB 26 was more than 3 nautical miles from shore, about 800m north of Ngu Island. This area is about 10m deep. The weather at Cua Lo sea area is calm, with light rain.
Also participating in the rescue were SAR 411 ship of the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center and rescue ship of Squadron 2, Provincial Border Guard.

To have the most effective search plan, on July 18, the Vietnam Maritime Administration sent a team of divers to the scene to survey. Here, the area where the ship sank was murky, with waves rolling around the ship, which significantly affected the search.

At around 2am on July 17, the 5,100-ton VTB 26 ship, carrying 4,700 tons of coal, sent out a distress signal while anchored to avoid the storm at Hon Ngu Island (Nghe An). The ship was later discovered capsized. 13 crew members fell into the sea, of which 7 were rescued, 2 died and 4 are missing. |
