Third body found in brawl at clam farm.

On the evening of July 8th, local authorities, border guards, and relatives found the body of the third person who went missing after a brawl at a clam farm on the Yen River.

The victim was Mr. Lu Linh Cuong (residing in Quang Ninh commune, Quang Xuong district, Thanh Hoa province). Mr. Cuong's body was found more than 1km downstream from the scene of the brawl on the Yen River.

Initial investigations by the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department indicate that the brawl on the Yen River on the afternoon of July 7th stemmed from a dispute over clam farming and harvesting areas between households in Dien village, Quang Nham commune (Quang Xuong district) and households in Bac Chau village, Hai Chau commune (Tinh Gia district).

On the morning of July 7th, both sides mobilized their forces and prepared weapons for a fight. The Quang Nham commune side had about 30 small rafts, the kind used for clam harvesting, carrying approximately 60 people.
On the Hai Chau commune side, there was a motorboat and two small rafts carrying about 15 people, who then went to the disputed clam farming area, quite far from the shore. Both sides used sticks, knives, bricks, and stones, and then fought chaotically.

As a result of the aforementioned brawl, three people fell into the Yen River and died from multiple injuries.

These include Mr. To Van Dung and Mr. Le Van Hieu, both residing in Hai Chau commune (Tinh Gia district); and Mr. Lu Linh Cuong, residing in Quang Ninh commune, Quang Xuong district. Six people from Tinh Gia district were injured: To Van Dan, To Van Manh, and To Van Them, all residing in Hai Chau commune; and Le Van Linh, Pham Dang Hong, and Le Van Hoa, all residing in Tan Dan commune.

In Quang Xuong district, three people were injured: Dinh Van Ha, Tran Van Quan, and Nguyen Van Tuyen, all residing in Quang Nham commune.

The Thanh Hoa Provincial Police are continuing to investigate the aforementioned case.
