#MeToo started as a social media campaign after a series of women accused famous Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment. Thousands of women then responded and shared their stories of sexual abuse.
The movement created a strong wave of awareness, causing many powerful people to be denounced, lose their positions, or be condemned by public opinion.
Time on December 6 chose this movement as "Person of the Year" 2017. On the cover, the magazine called the women participating in the movement "silence breakers".
Time said US President Trump ranked second on their list, while Chinese President Xi Jinping ranked third.
Time began naming the title "Person of the Year" in 1927. The title is given to an individual or group of people who have had a major impact on the world and the media, either positively or negatively. The person who was awarded this title in 2016 was Mr. Trump.
