Prosecution initiated against group of individuals for "illegal detention".

(Baonghean.vn) -The Vinh City Police have just initiated a criminal case and indicted Nguyen Viet Cuong (born in 1985), residing in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh City; Pham Truong Phi (born in 1992); Mai Van Quyet (born in 1990), both residing in Nghi An commune, Vinh City; and Pham Anh Tuan, residing in Block 9, Hong Son ward, Vinh City, for the crime of "illegal detention".

Earlier, at 4 PM on December 23, 2011, Cuong and the three other individuals went to the house of Mr. Le Viet Thin (born in 1976), residing in Xuan Duc hamlet, Nghi Duc commune, Vinh City, to demand payment of a debt of 7 million VND. Because he didn't have enough money, Mr. Thin asked to pay 5.5 million VND upfront, but Cuong refused, insisting on the full amount. An argument ensued, during which Cuong punched Thin in the face. The group then attacked him with punches and kicks. Not stopping there, after tying up Mr. Thin and carrying him to a taxi, they took him to an abandoned house near Vinh airport, where they continued to beat him severely.

The slippery road caused a fall, leading to death.

At 6:00 AM on January 6th, in Trang Son commune, Do Luong district, a traffic accident occurred between a truck with license plate 37H-7254 driven by Ngo Tri Thuan (born 1980), residing in Hamlet 6, Trang Son, Do Luong, and a bicycle. The accident resulted in the immediate death of Hoang Van Duc (born 2000), a second-grade student at Trang Son Primary School. Initial findings indicate that the accident was caused by slippery roads due to rain, leading to Duc's fall, and the truck, caught off guard, ran over him.
