According to the National Center for Hydrometeorology, at 7:00 AM on December 7th, the center of Typhoon Hagupit was located at approximately 11.9 degrees North latitude and 124.6 degrees East longitude, off the western coast of Samar Island (Philippines). The strongest winds near the center of the typhoon reached level 14 (150 to 166 km per hour), with gusts exceeding level 17.

The forecast for the next 24 hours indicates the storm will move westward, then potentially change direction to west-northwest, traveling at approximately 10-15 km per hour. By 7:00 AM on December 8th, the storm's center will be located at approximately 12.7 degrees North latitude and 122.1 degrees East longitude, over the central Philippines. The strongest winds near the storm's center will be at force 13-14 (134 to 166 km per hour), with gusts reaching force 16-17.

Over the next 24 to 48 hours, the storm will move west-northwest at a speed of approximately 10-15 km per hour. By 7:00 AM on December 9th, the storm's center will be located at approximately 13.4 degrees North latitude and 119.5 degrees East longitude, about 610 km east-northeast of Song Tu Tay Island (part of the Spratly Islands). The strongest winds near the storm's center will be at force 12-13 (118-149 km per hour), with gusts reaching force 15-16.

Due to the influence of the storm combined with a cold front from the evening of December 8th, the eastern part of the East Sea will experience strong winds of force 6-7, later increasing to force 8-9, with winds near the storm's center reaching force 12-13, gusting to force 15-16. The sea will be extremely rough. The level of natural disaster risk is level 3.

Over the next 48 to 72 hours, the storm is likely to change direction, moving westward at a speed of approximately 10-15 km per hour.
