Faith or superstition?
(Baonghean.vn) - The custom of praying for peace and warding off bad luck has existed for a long time, and is a spiritual support to help people overcome "bad luck" if any during the year. Therefore, every year around the beginning of January, every household and every person goes to sacred temples and pagodas to pray for peace and to make offerings to the stars to ward off bad luck.
Pray for peace and good fortune everywhere
Hoang Muoi Temple (Hung Thinh Commune, Hung Nguyen District) has been overloaded these days because hundreds of people have crowded the main halls to worship him in the prayers of the shaman, hoping for peace and to have their bad luck resolved. Ms. Hoang Thi Tuyet Lan, called "Miss" by many people, was offering a petition to a guest in Hong Son Ward (Vinh City) with the prediction: "Heavy bad luck, with the Thai Bach star shining on it", so this petition was read and reread twice, but she still could not cast a good fortune. Then the homeowner had to bow to all the main halls and kneel down to ask the Buddha to witness, then she immediately said "Okay, you have given it, thank you" and turned to the homeowner:“I told you, the drought is so severe, so leave early, prepare a proper ceremony, don't be so stingy...”.
Mrs. Lan said that many homeowners with bad luck come to her every year to ask her to pray for them. Every year, she makes 3-4 pilgrimages, each with about 60-100 families. Some families only have 2 people go, some have all members participate. Therefore, each family can only pray for peace, worship the stars and resolve bad luck for about 5 minutes. If the higher-ups approve, the bad luck is considered resolved; or if someone's bad luck is too severe or too difficult to resolve, it takes longer, but most of them are allowed to. Mrs. Lan said:“I save many people. If they do not go to the Thai Bach, Kim Lau, 49, 53 periods, their lives will be difficult to keep, or even if they make it, their families will be ruined.”.
