1. Egyptian President pays official visit to Vietnam

At the invitation of President Tran Dai Quang, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi paid a state visit to Vietnam from September 6-7, 2017.
The Egyptian President's visit to Vietnam is an important milestone in the 54 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1963-2017). This is the first time a top Egyptian leader has visited Vietnam, demonstrating the importance and desire to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam; making the cooperation between the two countries more effective and extensive.
In addition, the visit is also an opportunity for the two sides to discuss measures to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields, including boosting economic, trade and investment cooperation; seeking cooperation opportunities in areas where the two countries have strengths such as trade, agriculture, culture and tourism; and discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern.
2. The National Assembly's Judiciary Committee opened its seventh plenary session.

On the afternoon of September 5, in Hanoi, the National Assembly's Judicial Committee held its seventh plenary session. The Government's report on anti-corruption work in 2017 clearly stated positive results, creating deterrence in many aspects. Administrative procedure reform was implemented vigorously; accountability of agencies in performing assigned tasks was enhanced; activities of agencies, organizations and units were made public; supervision of elected bodies was strengthened...
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu commented that in 2017, with strong leadership, the work of preventing and combating corruption had positive changes. The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly proposed a comprehensive analysis of the issue of preventing and combating corruption, especially the work of perfecting institutions, policies and laws. From there, effective prevention measures would be proposed to be included in the review report to be submitted to the National Assembly in the coming time.

On the morning of September 5, students across the country began the new school year. The opening ceremony lasted about an hour, with the singing of the national anthem during the flag-raising ceremony, and students listening to the President's letter on the opening day of school. The school principal announced the opening of the new school year and beat the drum to mark the start of school.
After the ceremony, students participated in the festival with performances, sports, and folk games. The opening ceremony focused on welcoming new students, ensuring simplicity and economy.
4. Mr. Vo Kim Cu as Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Cooperative Innovation

On the morning of September 7, at the Government Headquarters, the Steering Committee for Innovation and Development of Collective Economy and Cooperatives was launched. Previously, on March 22, 2017, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 352/QD-TTg to establish the Steering Committee, assigning Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue as Head of the Steering Committee.
The three Deputy Heads of the Committee are: Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong and Chairman of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance Vo Kim Cu.
The Steering Committee also has 20 members who are leaders of ministries, branches under the Government, agencies of the National Assembly, the Central Economic Committee, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance and the Chief of the Office for Innovation and Development of Collective Economy and Cooperatives.
5. The Central Military Commission's inspection proposed disciplining a number of organizations and individuals.

On September 7, the Central Military Commission's Inspection Commission for the 2015-2020 term held its 5th meeting, chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics, and Director of the Central Military Commission's Inspection Commission, to review the report and propose disciplinary action against a number of Party organizations and individuals with violations.
The Central Military Commission's Inspection Committee analyzed, concluded and clarified the violations and voted to propose disciplinary action according to its authority, ensuring objectivity and compliance with principles and regulations.
The Head of the Central Military Commission's Inspection Commission requested that Party committees and organizations with serious violations be directed to learn from experience and continue to lead the immediate correction of violations according to the conclusions of competent authorities.
6. First time announcing the ranking of 49 top universities in Vietnam

On the afternoon of September 6, a group of 6 experts from many domestic and foreign organizations announced the ranking of universities in Vietnam for the 2016-2017 school year. This ranking includes 49 out of 100 schools whose information was collected and gave quite surprising results.
The ranking results show that large-scale national universities are all in the top. The first place in the ranking is Hanoi National University, the fourth place is Danang University and the fifth place is Ho Chi Minh City National University.
It is worth noting that some universities are still very young but are in high rankings such as: Ton Duc Thang University ranked 2nd, Duy Tan University ranked 9th. Besides, some specialized schools are also in the top positions such as: Vietnam Academy of Agriculture ranked 3rd, Can Tho University ranked 6th, Hanoi University of Science and Technology ranked 7th, Hanoi University of Education ranked 10th.
7. Prosecution of former Deputy Governor of the State Bank Dang Thanh Binh

On September 8, the Investigation Police Agency, Ministry of Public Security, issued a decision to prosecute Mr. Dang Thanh Binh, 63 years old, for the crime of Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences.
Former Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam was prosecuted for his involvement in the economic "big case" of Pham Cong Danh and his accomplices, causing a loss of 9,000 billion VND. The prosecution agency applied the preventive measure of prohibiting defendant Binh from leaving his place of residence.
The Supreme People's Procuracy has approved the decision to prosecute defendant Binh to investigate the act of Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences.
Mr. Dang Thanh Binh was appointed as Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam in 2005. He has 25 years of experience in the banking industry.
