1. Hungarian Prime Minister pays official visit to Vietnam

At the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán Viktor and his wife began an official visit to Vietnam from September 24 to 26.

The visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán Viktor aims to affirm the policy of attaching importance to and wishing to strengthen multifaceted relations with Vietnam, making the cooperation between the two countries increasingly develop more effectively and extensively.

The visit is also an opportunity for the two sides to discuss measures to promote bilateral cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, education and training, health, environment, security and defense, culture and tourism, as well as discuss regional and international issues of mutual concern.

2. Prime Minister chairs Mekong Delta Sustainable Development Conference

On the morning of September 27, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the Conference on sustainable development of the Mekong Delta in response to climate change.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, which is considered a Dien Hong conference to call for great ideas to respond to climate change in the Mekong Delta, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that, in the face of natural challenges, if the Government and local authorities do not know how to organize the work well, they will have to pay a high price.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that, in the face of natural phenomena, we should not panic but need to find the best and most scientific way to do things, and innovate our thinking and actions so that the delta region, home to nearly 20 million people, becomes a rich region of the Vietnamese Fatherland of nearly 100 million people.

3. Warning to the Chairman of Da Nang City, proposal to discipline Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh

On September 29, the Central Inspection Commission held its 18th meeting chaired by Mr. Tran Quoc Vuong - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Commission.

Here, the inspection agency decided to issue a warning to Mr. Huynh Duc Tho - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City; requested the Politburo and the Central Executive Committee to consider and issue a disciplinary action against the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh (Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council) according to their authority.

According to the announcement, as head of the City Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh is primarily responsible for the violations and shortcomings of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term.

According to the Central Inspection Commission, Mr. Huynh Duc Tho is jointly responsible for the violations and shortcomings of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term.

4. The Government Inspectorate announced the decision to inspect the VN Pharma case.

On the morning of September 26, at the Ministry of Health, the Government Inspectorate announced its decision to inspect the licensing of drug imports and the issuance of drug circulation registration certificates for 7 types of drugs produced by Helix Pharamceuticals Ine, Canada, and the winning of bids to supply drugs to hospitals by VN Pharma Company.

Specifically, the inspection of drug import licensing and drug circulation registration for 7 types of drugs produced by Helix Pharmaceuticals Ine, Canada and the winning of drug supply packages for hospitals by VN Pharma. The inspection period is from 2011 to 2014, when necessary, it can be reviewed before and after the above period.

Inspection period is 60 days, actual work from the date of announcement of inspection decision.

5. Chief Accountant of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group was arrested

On September 26, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Le Dinh Mau (45 years old), chief accountant and head of the finance, accounting and auditing department of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group - PVN.

The Security Investigation Agency also decided to prosecute three other people for the same crime, including: Vu Hong Chuong, former head of the Thai Binh 2 oil and gas power project management board (under PVN); Tran Van Nguyen, chief accountant of the Thai Binh 2 oil and gas power project management board; and Nguyen Ngoc Quy, former vice chairman of the board of directors of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC).

The above defendants were prosecuted for the act of "Intentionally violating the State's regulations on economic management causing serious consequences", which occurred at PVC and its member units. According to the authorities, the defendants showed signs of violations in making advance payments before signing the EPC Contract of the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant project.

6. Nguyen Xuan Son was sentenced to death, Ha Van Tham to life in prison.

The defendants heard the verdict on the morning of September 22.

After 1 month of trial and deliberation, this morning, September 29, the Hanoi People's Court announced the verdict for Ha Van Tham, Nguyen Xuan Son and their accomplices in the major case of loss of more than 2,000 billion VND at Oceanbank.

A total of 51 defendants in the case at Ocean Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OceanBank) were brought to trial by the Hanoi People's Court on August 28 for embezzlement, intentional wrongdoing, abuse of power to appropriate property, and violations in lending.

After evaluating the entire content of the case, at 10:30 a.m., the Hanoi People's Court sentenced defendant Ha Van Tham - former Chairman of the Board of Directors of OceanBank to life in prison for four crimes: intentionally violating regulations on lending, abusing position and power to appropriate property and embezzlement.

Defendant Nguyen Xuan Son - former General Director of OceanBank was sentenced to death for three crimes of intentional wrongdoing, abuse of position and power to appropriate property and embezzlement.

7. Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa province was disciplined, Ms. Quynh Anh was expelled from the Party.

Regarding the "lightning-fast" appointment of Ms. Tran Vu Quynh Anh, former Head of the Housing Management and Real Estate Market Department of the Department of Construction, at the meeting on the morning of September 29, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee voted and agreed to reprimand Mr. Ngo Van Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, expel Ms. Tran Vu Quynh Anh from the Party and deeply review the leaders of the Department of Construction.

At the meeting, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee also agreed to conduct a thorough review of Mr. Dao Vu Viet - Director of the Thanh Hoa Department of Construction. The Party Committee of the Department of Construction and a number of Party members in the Party Cell where Ms. Quynh Anh used to work were reprimanded. Attending the meeting, Mr. Ngo Van Tuan recognized the extent of his violations and accepted the disciplinary action imposed by the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee.
