1. State visit of the President to the Republic of Bangladesh

On the afternoon of March 4, President Tran Dai Quang, his wife and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, to begin a State visit to the People's Republic of Bangladesh at the invitation of Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid.

President Tran Dai Quang's State visit to Bangladesh is expected to be a breath of fresh air, increasing trade turnover between the two countries in the coming time.

Vietnam and Bangladesh established diplomatic relations in 1973 and have a traditional friendship and good cooperation. With great potential for cooperation in many fields, especially agriculture, textiles, and electronics, Vietnam and Bangladesh will strive to bring bilateral trade to over 1 billion USD.

2. The Secretariat directs the handling of the case of MobiFone buying 95% of AVG shares.

On March 8, the Central Party Office issued an official dispatch on handling the case of Mobifone Telecommunications Corporation buying 95% of shares of Global Audiovisual Joint Stock Company (AVG).

Accordingly, recently, the Secretariat met under the chairmanship of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to listen to the Government Inspectorate Party Committee report on the results of the inspection of the above project.

The Secretariat believes that this is a very serious, complicated, sensitive case that is of particular concern to public opinion. The Government Inspectorate has made great efforts to conduct a comprehensive inspection, draw conclusions, and report to the Secretariat.

The Secretariat requested the Government Standing Committee and the Government Inspectorate to direct and take responsibility for the Inspection Conclusion and promptly announce the Inspection Conclusion in accordance with the provisions of law.

3.The Politburo decided on personnel work in the positions of Standing Secretary of the Secretariat and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council.

- Mr. Dinh The Huynh,Member of the Politburo, Standing member of the Secretariat, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council for the 2016-2021 term, resigned from the position of Standing member of the Secretariat and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council for the 2016-2021 term to continue long-term medical treatment.

4. Chairman and Vice Chairman of Quang Nam province were warned

Mr. Huynh Khanh Toan, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Dinh Van Thu, Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee.

On March 8, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed a decision to issue a disciplinary warning to two leaders of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, Mr. Dinh Van Thu - Chairman and Mr. Huynh Khanh Toan - Permanent Vice Chairman (term 2016 - 2021).

These two men received a warning decision from the Government leaders because they had previously been disciplined by the Party according to the decision of the Central Inspection Committee.

Pursuant to the Politburo's Regulations on disciplinary action against violating Party members, at the meeting at the end of January 2018, the Central Inspection Committee concluded that the violations and shortcomings of Mr. Dinh Van Thu and Mr. Huynh Khanh Toan were serious, so this agency decided to issue a disciplinary warning to the two men.

5. Announcement of the list of 1,131 professors and associate professors in 2017

Chairman of the State Council for Professors Phung Xuan Nha has just signed a Decision to recognize 1,131 teachers as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2017.

According to Decision 06 just signed by Mr. Phung Xuan Nha, Chairman of the State Council of Professors, 1,131 individuals were recognized as meeting the standards for the titles of professor and associate professor in 2017.

Of these, 74 were recognized as professors and 1,057 were recognized as associate professors. This is the result after the Prime Minister requested a review of 1,226 candidates previously announced.

The Decision requires the Secretary General of the State Council of Professors, Heads of higher education institutions and agencies, and individuals named in the list to be responsible for implementing the Decision.

The incident in which a teacher in Long An was forced by parents to kneel down and apologize in school for accidentally punishing a student is causing public outrage.

The incident just happened at Binh Chanh Primary School, Nhut Chanh Commune, Ben Luc (Long An). Before that, some students who violated the school rules were punished by Ms. Nhung - a teacher of this school by forcing them to kneel. After that, some students were afraid to go to school.

On February 28, four parents whose children were punished came to the school and loudly criticized Ms. Nhung’s behavior. Ms. Nhung admitted her mistake and promised to correct it. However, one of the parents did not agree. Under pressure from the parents, the teacher said she would kneel down to admit her mistake.

Although the principal intervened and promised to handle the matter, the four parents still put pressure on the teacher, and in the end the teacher had to kneel down and apologize in front of several other teachers in the school.
