Nghe An Province: Rewarding 131 farmers for good production and business

(Baonghean.vn) - In the period 2012 - 2016, Nghe An province had 272,491 farmer households registered to strive to become good farmer households at all levels. Through the evaluation and honor of the Association at all levels, the whole province recognized 146,147 good farmer households, reaching 53.6% of the registered households, an increase of 3.1 times compared to 2012.

The movement of Farmers competing in production, good business, and uniting to help each other get rich has achieved many results, creating motivation and encouraging farmers to enthusiastically compete in labor production, striving to get rich; actively contributing to the development of agriculture and the construction of new rural areas of the province.

Implementing the movement, the Farmers' Association at all levels has taken many measures to direct, propagate, mobilize, and support members and farmers to implement major policies in agriculture such as land consolidation, plot exchange, building large fields, promoting "4-house" linkage activities in production and consumption. Organizing training activities, transferring technical advances, vocational training, lending capital to farmers, thereby attracting a large number of farmers to participate.

From this movement, many farming households have actively shifted the structure of crops and livestock, exploited the potential and strengths of the locality; boldly invested in large-scale production with business capital of billions of VND, creating jobs for hundreds of workers, with annual income from 100 million VND to billions of VND. Of which, 21,175 households have an income of over 200 million VND/year; 463 households have an income of over 1 billion VND/year.

In the regions, there are many examples of farmers who do not accept hunger and poverty, determined to rise up and become good producers and businesses. Typical examples include the family of Mr. Dang Anh Tuan (Xuan Son commune, Do Luong district); the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Huu (Hung Yen Bac commune, Hung Nguyen district); the family of Mr. Ngo Tri Dong (Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district)...

Many localities have a high number of households registering and achieving the title of "Good farmers and businesses" such as Dien Chau with 16,811 households, Do Luong with 15,217 households, Thanh Chuong with 13,182 households...

The Farmers' emulation movement for good production and business has gradually contributed to changing farmers' thinking from small-scale production to intensive investment in concentrated commodity farming; linking together to develop production according to Cooperative Groups and Cooperatives to link production chains; making important contributions to building new rural areas, building and consolidating the Farmers' Association and the increasingly strong political system in rural areas.
