Love for U9 kids

We met coach Le Ky Dai in the afternoon after work at the Club headquarters.Lam River Nghe An. This was also the time when the U9 players from Nghe An had just returned from cultural school. The first impression was when seeing the U9 children very polite, greeting everyone and clinging to coach Le Ky Dai. "How did you eat and study today?" - Coach Dai affectionately asked his students. Looking at their gestures and the way they talked, it was as if it was the affection of blood relatives for each other.

Le Ky Dai was only born in 1991, but he is now the head coach of the U9 Song Lam Nghe An team. At the end of August, the team led by Le Ky Dai excellently won the 2022 National U9 Football Championship.

Not yet married, Le Ky Dai spends all his time with his students. He sees them as his children, his home, his daily joy. Le Ky Dai's U9 class is the youngest at the club, consisting of 6 children born in 2014 and 10 children born in 2013. Leaving their parents' warmth early, he is like a father to the U9 children. "Dang Dat is only 8 years old this year. When he came to live at the club, he was very shy. He was scared, refused to sleep alone, and insisted on sleeping with the teacher before staying. Since then, he moved to my room and slept with me until now. He has gotten used to the teacher, every night he asks the teacher to tell him a story before he can sleep. I see the children as my children. Every time they come home, I miss them very much. I'm used to it, without them, I have trouble sleeping." - Coach Le Ky Dai confided.

Not only taking on the role of football coach, the youngest coach of Song Lam Nghe An also has to take care of the children's meals and sleep. He has to play the role of a father and mother, teaching them to be polite, humble, and love everyone... Especially when the weather changes, the children often get sick, and he has to always be on duty to take care of them instead of their parents.

Teacher Dai shared: “When my children were 8 or 9 years old, they often got sick. Sometimes I had to knock on the doors of pharmacies in the middle of the night to buy fever-reducing medicine for them. Not married yet, I didn’t have much experience in taking care of children. So, I had to ask pharmacists for advice on how to reduce fever, and so I just learned from them. There were many nights when I almost stayed up all night to apply warm towels to my children. I’ve gotten used to it now, and I find it’s not that difficult and I worry less when my children get sick.”

The U9 Song Lam Nghe An children, under the care and guidance of coach Le Ky Dai, have now become stronger and more aware of their chosen football path. In the recent U9 national championship, despite their young age, they have shown their will to excel. In particular, Le Ky Dai's students always play with the spirit of Fair-play and respect for their opponents. These are the qualities that will help them be more successful in the future.

I am glad that you have shown the spirit and qualities of children raised with love.

“The championship that the children won brought me great happiness. Not only was this the first time I stood in a leadership position and achieved success. I was also happy because the children demonstrated the spirit and qualities of children who were taught with love. In the match with the U9 Ngoc Hung team, when they saw the other team lose heavily, the children came to encourage, comfort and share. That is what touched me and is what I want to pass on to the children. I hope that they will be players with good ethics in the future” - Coach Le Ky Dai said.

Song Lam Nghe An Youth Football Training Center is not only known as the place that produces top stars for Vietnamese football. Now, the club's leaders also pay special attention to the care, nurturing and education of the children. Hopefully, the children who are trained and guided by Mr. Dai will become talented and virtuous stars in the future.

Grown up from exemplary teachers

Le Ky Dai's journey as a professional player was not as smooth as many others. Facing constant injuries, Le Ky Dai could not maintain his form. Therefore, he retired early at the age of 23. With the help and guidance of coach Nguyen Thanh Cong, Le Ky Dai decided to switch to coaching.

Joining the Song Lam Nghe An Youth Football Training Center in 2015, the youngest coach of the club was assigned to be an assistant to coach Le Ky Phuong. For nearly 7 years, Le Ky Dai has learned a lot of knowledge from this most successful strategist in Nghe An.

The generation of players coached by Mr. Le Ky Phuong and Mr. Le Ky Dai has achieved many outstanding achievements in youth tournaments organized by the Vietnam Football Federation. And the most recent success is winning the National U17 Championship in 2020. Now this generation of players has many children who are gradually becoming talents of Nghe An football. Typical examples are Dinh Xuan Tien, Ho Van Cuong, Nguyen Van Bach, Le Xuan Dai... These are players who have been developed quite comprehensively in terms of expertise and professional attitude.

Le Ky Dai shared: “I learned a lot about the coaching profession from coach Le Ky Phuong. He is a person with deep expertise, works with great passion, and always puts the player's ethics at the center of training. I think this is the right way to train, helping students develop comprehensively. So now I have applied that philosophy to my players.”

Hopefully with his dedication and responsibility, Le Ky Dai will train students who are both virtuous and talented for Vietnamese football in the future.
