Traditional gathering held in Vinh City
(Baonghean.vn) -To commemorate the 45th anniversary of the founding of Regiment 27 (E27) (formerly the Nghe Tinh Soviet Regiment), the E27 Veterans' Liaison Committee in Nghe An hosted a traditional reunion at the T50 Guest House of Military Region 4 (Vinh City).
Attending the event were Lieutenant General Hoang Ky - former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, representatives of the leadership of E27 from various periods, National Assembly delegates, the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, and over 400 veterans and family members of martyrs from E27 nationwide.
In accordance with the wishes of the families of fallen soldiers and veterans who, due to circumstances, cannot frequently return to the old battlefields to light incense and visit their loved ones and comrades, the Liaison Committee of Veterans of South Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands went to Quang Tri to light incense, invited fellow veterans to come to Nghe An to attend the ceremony, and requested some soil and water from Quang Tri, where the blood of their comrades was shed, to be used in the ceremony to welcome their comrades back home. Water was taken from rivers, and soil from the mountainous areas of Quang Tri was brought to the Martyrs' Cemeteries so that families and veterans could light incense on the 15th and 1st of the lunar month to visit the martyrs at the cemeteries. Representatives of veterans from 12 provinces and cities will receive 24 jars of soil and water from the battlefield to be placed in the cemeteries for the ceremony.
Previously, for many years, the veterans of E27 successfully organized pilgrimages to bring the homeland of their comrades (the land and water of their homeland were placed at martyrs' cemeteries in Quang Tri province).
The reunion recalled the glorious and heroic past, but also the sacrifices and hardships, of the soldiers on the battlefields of Quang Tri. It was also an opportunity for comrades to meet, socialize, and inquire about each other's daily lives.
Speaking at the meeting, Lieutenant General Hoang Ky praised the glorious achievements of Regiment E27 in the great war against imperialist aggression. He also encouraged the spirit of solidarity among veterans in peacetime, who have continuously organized pilgrimages to the Quang Tri battlefield for many years with meaningful activities, contributing to alleviating the pain of the families of fallen soldiers and leaving a positive impression on the people of each locality, portraying the image of the heroic and courageous Vietnamese People's Army soldiers in combat and their deep affection in peacetime.
