Organizing traditional meetings in Vinh City
(Baonghean.vn) -On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the traditional day of Regiment 27 (E27) (formerly Soviet Nghe Tinh Regiment), the E27 Veterans Liaison Committee in Nghe An hosted a traditional meeting at Guest House T50, Military Region 4 (Vinh City).
Attending the event were Lieutenant General Hoang Ky - Former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, representatives of E27 leaders through the periods, National Assembly delegates, Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee and over 400 war veterans, relatives of martyrs' families of E27 across the country.
In response to the wishes of the martyrs' families and the veterans who, due to circumstances, cannot regularly return to the old battlefield to burn incense and visit their relatives and comrades, the Liaison Committee of Veterans of the South Central and Central Highlands returned to Quang Tri to burn incense, invited their comrades to Nghe An to attend the ceremony, and asked for some soil and water from Quang Tri, where their comrades' blood had soaked, to hold a ceremony to welcome their comrades back home. Water was taken from rivers and soil in the mountainous areas of Quang Tri and brought to the martyrs' cemeteries so that families and veterans could come to burn incense on the 15th and 1st of the lunar month to visit the martyrs at the cemeteries. Representatives of the veterans of 12 provinces and cities will receive 24 jars of soil and water from the battlefield to hold a ceremony at the cemeteries.
Previously, for many years, the E27 veterans successfully organized pilgrimages to bring their comrades back to their homeland (the homeland's land and water are located at martyrs' cemeteries in Quang Tri province).
The meeting reviewed the past, a glorious and heroic fighting time but also full of sacrifice and hardship of the soldiers on the battlefields of Quang Tri. It was also an opportunity for comrades to meet, exchange and ask about daily life.
Speaking at the meeting, Lieutenant General Hoang Ky praised the glorious achievements that the E27 Regiment had achieved in the great war against the imperialist invaders. At the same time, he encouraged the spirit of solidarity of the war veterans in peacetime who have continuously organized pilgrimages to the Quang Tri battlefield for many years with meaningful activities, contributing to easing the pain of the families of martyrs, leaving good feelings in the hearts of the people of each locality about the image of the heroic and brave soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army in combat, with deep affection in peacetime.
