Mrs. Hoang Thi Minh Ho, wife of capitalist Trinh Van Bo, who donated 5,147 taels of gold to the State during the Golden Week (1945), passed away at 11:20 p.m. on November 5 at her home at 34 Hoang Dieu, Hanoi, at the age of 104.

Previously, Hanoi city also planned to name 20 streets, including Mr. Trinh Van Bo, who donated more than 5,000 taels of gold to the Government.

The street named after capitalist Trinh Van Bo will be located in Cau Giay district (Hanoi).

This street is one of 20 new streets (along with 5 streets with adjusted length) included in the Resolution on naming and renaming streets and public works in Hanoi in 2017 submitted by the Hanoi People's Committee to the Hanoi People's Council.

Trinh Van Bo Street is expected to be 1.2 km long and 7.5 m wide, from the intersection with Nguyen Dinh Hoan Street at T11 Bridge to the intersection with Phung Chi Kien Street at the back gate of the National Defense Academy.

Mr. Trinh Van Bo (1914-1988) was the youngest of three children. His father was Trinh Phuc Loi, a Vietnamese businessman in the early 20th century. His mother, Phan, was of Chinese descent and later successfully managed the Phuc Loi trading company with her husband.

In 1932, he married Ms. Hoang Thi Minh Ho, the daughter of Mr. Hoang Dao Phuong, a Confucian scholar and wealthy merchant in ancient Hanoi.

With a patriotic spirit, the August Revolution of 1945 was successful. Through the introduction of Mr. Vu Dinh Huynh, Mr. and Mrs. Trinh Van Bo dedicated the house at 48 Hang Ngang for revolutionary cadres to use as a workplace.

Just a few days later, in response to the Golden Week launched by the Government, the family of businessman Trinh Van Bo donated 5,147 taels of gold, while the treasury was empty.

Later, the house at 48 Hang Ngang was where President Ho Chi Minh drafted the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945.
