'Shape the shape, draw the future' for disabled children
(Baonghean) - In recent times, Vinh International Hospital has organized a series of meaningful programs to care for 5,000 children in Nghe An province, especially charity and humanitarian programs for disabled and disadvantaged children; to support health care, help them integrate into the community and improve their lives.
Starting from 2015, Vinh International Hospital cooperated with the Nghe An Provincial Children's Fund and non-governmental organizations to implement many humanitarian programs for disabled children such as: "Smile Surgery" program for children with cleft lip and palate, "Motor Disability Surgery - Shape and Draw the Future" program for children with motor disabilities (extra fingers, syndactyly, contracted limbs, cleft hands and feet, O-shaped legs, X-shaped legs...).

Vinh International Hospital in collaboration with Nghe An Children's Fund and Dr. Le Duc To - Director of STO Phuong Dong Orthopedic and Traumatology Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) organized screening for children with disabilities. |
The hospital's medical team has gone to every region in Nghe An to organize free screening for disabled children. At the local screening points, there are many patients who are unfortunate children of many ages brought by their parents waiting to be examined.
Through conversations with our team, the patient’s family shared that they learned about the program through many different information channels (District Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, newspapers, radio, etc.). Each person has a different situation, but they have in common that they are all poor and are concerned about the disadvantages and disabilities that their children are suffering from. However, because they are unable to pay for the surgery and treatment for their children, most parents have to swallow their tears and watch their children grow up with many difficulties in daily life, communication and inferiority complex.
Therefore, the humanitarian programs supporting disabled children of Vinh International Hospital have brought joy and happiness to many poor and unfortunate families. Mr. Ho Dinh L. (father of Ho Dinh T, 10 years old, from Quynh Luu district, one of thousands of lucky children supported by the program for free examination and surgery) happily said: "Hearing about the program, my family immediately brought my child to be examined by the hospital's doctors, with the biggest dream being that our child would have the opportunity to have surgery, so that he could move his hands, study and work like his peers".
That is also the common concern of thousands of parents with disadvantaged children, wishing to regain strong feet, healthy hands, a beautiful, intact smile on a lovely face like any other normal child...
From the beginning of 2016 until now, through 4 examination sessions, 4,000 children with smile disabilities and motor disabilities in localities across Nghe An province have been screened for free by Vinh International Hospital.
In October 2016, the program “Operation Smile” took place and performed free surgery for 93 children with various types of cleft lip and palate deformities. The children’s smiles were restored, erasing the worries and hardships of their parents, helping them reintegrate into life.

In addition, the journey "Shaping the shape, drawing the future" has gone through 15 communes and districts to screen more than 3,000 children, of which 80 children with various types of motor disabilities (contracted fingers, extra fingers, syndactyly, X-shaped legs, etc.) have also received surgery and orthopedic surgery to have a more perfect body. The surgeries were successful, the children all recovered quickly, and had good mobility, which is a great source of encouragement for the hospital's medical staff.
Ending 2016 with many community activities aimed at children, Vinh International Hospital is proud to be a pioneer in organizing humanitarian programs, an interactive channel spreading kind hearts, non-profit organizations; helping small hearts have the conditions to realize their dreams of a brighter future.
Continuing the meaningful project of caring for 5,000 children in Nghe An province, in 2016, the charity examination programs of Vinh International Hospital will continue to be deployed on a large scale; providing comprehensive health care for more than 7,000 children.
