The ban will be fully enforced, although there are still some challenges to the ban in lower courts, Reuters reported.

In a hearing in which seven of the nine justices agreed, the Court granted the Trump administration's request and overturned two previous state court orders, allowing the full implementation of the latest travel ban that Trump signed on September 24 against eight countries.

Accordingly, citizens of Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia and Chad who have no ties to the US will not be allowed to enter the US.

Relationships are defined as having relatives or formal connections with U.S. institutions such as universities or immigration agencies. Relatives are blood relatives such as grandparents, children, grandchildren, siblings, aunts, and uncles living in the United States.

The two non-Muslim-majority countries included in the ban are North Korea and Venezuela, with only a few Venezuelan government officials and their family members barred from entering the United States due to diplomatic issues between the two countries.

Critics say Mr Trump's ban discriminates on the basis of religion, but the presence of North Korea on the list makes it a national security issue.

Previously, when issuing the ban, Mr. Trump affirmed: "Making America safe is my top priority. We will not allow anyone into the United States without being able to check their records."
