Implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on organizing activities to celebrate Vietnam - Laos relations on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2017))and 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2017),On August 9, 2017, in Nghe An, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation signed a bilateral cooperation agreement with the Xieng Khouang Provincial Labor Union, Laos, to enhance friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the Labor Unions of the two provinces.

At the discussion, Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation reported on the activities of Nghe An Trade Union in recent times and the results of the cooperation program between Xieng Khouang Provincial Trade Union for the period 2017-2022.

In the past 5 years, the two units have visited and worked to exchange and support each other in union activities. Specifically, in 2018, the delegation of Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation visited and worked with Xieng Khouang Provincial Labor Union. In 2019, the delegation of Xieng Khouang Provincial Labor Union visited and worked with Nghe An Provincial Labor Union. Sharing the difficulties of the other unit, Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation supported the Lao Labor Union with a total amount of nearly 44 million VND.

In addition to the results obtained from the working trips, the cooperation program has many contents that have not been implemented due to the Covid-19 outbreak. In the coming time, Nghe An Provincial Trade Union will continue to strengthen the cooperative relationship between Nghe An Provincial Trade Union and Xieng Khouang Provincial Trade Union according to the content of the memorandum of understanding signed on August 9, 2017 with specific contents such as: Supporting working equipment, training cadres for Xieng Khouang Provincial Trade Union; Exchanging experiences on protecting the rights of workers and working citizens, collecting information and managing workers outside the system, mobile workersin 2 countries; Exchange information and experience on developing trade union organizations in private enterprises, experience in building social funds, ways to find sources of revenue and ways to manage and use social funds.

In an open atmosphere, the delegation of the Xieng Khouang Provincial Trade Union shared the difficulties during the Covid-19 outbreak and asked many questions to Nghe An Trade Union about issues related to union member development, implementation of resolutions from higher levels, union organization operating budget and emulation and reward work.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Kha Van Tam acknowledged the effectiveness of the discussion as well as the results that the two units have achieved in the past time. Although the actual conditions are very different, the two units have shared many valuable experiences related to the building of trade union organizations. All activities of the Vietnam Trade Union in general and Nghe An in particular have the absolute direction of the Party, at the same time, the team of trade union cadres needs to be dedicated, make efforts, and specifically follow the instructions... Regarding the request of Xieng Khouang Trade Union to support the training of trade union cadres, he said that this is an important content and requires the participation of the Nghe An provincial government and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Comrade Kha Van Tam emphasized: "We are awareVietnam - Laos relationshipIn general, and Nghe An - Xieng Khouang in particular, is a special relationship. With the responsibility of the Trade Union, we will work with the Party, the State and the people to foster this good sentiment. At the same time, the two provinces as well as the two border districts of Ky Son - Noong Het also need to create conditions for them to work and travel together regularly and closely in the coming time."

In response to the warm welcome and enthusiastic welcome of Nghe An Trade Union, the delegation of Xieng Khouang Provincial Trade Union Federation expressed sincere thanks and hoped to continue receiving the attention and support of Nghe An province and Nghe An Trade Union in the coming time.
