In recent years, the alarming trend of students turning away from History has caused widespread concern and anxiety in society. At the 2014 High School Graduation Exam, only 11% of students nationwide and 7% in Nghe An province chose to take History. To contribute to an accurate assessment of the current state of History teaching and learning, identify the causes, and find solutions, participants in the seminar frankly shared their views on three issues: explaining why students dislike studying and taking History exams from the perspective of textbook content and curriculum, teachers, and students themselves; the consequences of this issue on the understanding of national history, the cultivation of patriotism, and national cultural values for today's youth; and proposing solutions to foster a love for History among students and overcome the problem of students' aversion to the subject.
