Nghe An Court sentenced to death 3 subjects who 'transacted' 4 kilos of drugs after many previous convictions
(Baonghean.vn) - All three defendants Trong, Son, and Minh had served time in prison. However, the three still colluded to buy and sell more than 3.9 kg of drugs and were sentenced to death.
On May 31, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial of three defendants: Vuong Quoc Trong (born in 1977), Nguyen Hien Son (born in 1989), both residing in Bac Ha ward, Ha Tinh city (Ha Tinh province) and Lo Van Minh (born in 1971), residing in Kim Son town, Que Phong district, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
The three defendants all have bad personal records. In 2004, Trong was sentenced to 7 years in prison, and in 2013, he was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison, all for drug use. Meanwhile, Lo Van Minh was sentenced to 3 times in prison for theft and drug trafficking.

During his time in prison, Trong and Minh got to know each other. In mid-2020, after completing his sentence, Trong contacted Minh to buy 4kg of crystal meth for 520 million VND.
Due to not having enough money, Trong agreed to pay Minh 80 million VND and 4 taels of gold in advance (the two sides agreed that the value of 4 taels of gold was 200 million VND). He promised to pay the remaining amount when he finished selling the drugs.
Then, Trong contacted Son to go to Que Phong to get drugs and promised to pay 15 million VND for the work.
On the morning of July 3, 2020, after getting money and gold from Trong, Son went to Que Phong district to meet Minh to get drugs. That same evening, Minh went to the forest hill in Tri Le commune to buy 4 kg of crystal meth for 400 million VND (debt of 120 million VND) from a Laotian.
Minh then gave the drugs to Son to take back to Trong. At around 9:30 a.m. on July 4, 2020, when Son went to Phan Boi Chau Street, Vinh City, he was arrested by the police along with the evidence. Based on Son's statement, the police arrested Trong and Minh.
At the trial, the defendants confessed to their crimes. Trong said he took the money and gold to buy drugs from his wife. Facing the death penalty, the defendants begged for a chance to live.
The panel of judges determined that in this case, the defendants were involved in drug trafficking in an exceptionally large quantity. All three defendants had bad personal records, so they sentenced Vuong Quoc Trong, Nguyen Hien Son and Lo Van Minh to life imprisonment.death penalty
