Overview of President Tran Dai Quang's visit to India

(Baonghean.vn) - At the invitation of President of the Republic of India Ram Nath Kovind, on the morning of March 3, President Tran Dai Quang and his wife, along with a high-ranking delegation, left Hanoi for a State visit to the Republic of India from March 2-4.

The high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on a State visit to the Republic of India included: Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh; Party Central Committee members: Chairman of the President's Office Dao Viet Trung, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh, Secretary of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Hien, Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Chi Vinh.

The delegation also included Vietnamese Ambassador to India Ton Sinh Thanh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Dinh Quy, Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien, and Assistant to the President Tran Quang Tiep.

On the morning of March 3 local time (noon of the same day Hanoi time), at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi, the official welcoming ceremony for President Tran Dai Quang and his wife was solemnly held according to the protocol for welcoming Heads of State.

President Ram Nath Kovind presided over the welcoming ceremony. The welcoming ceremony was attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many high-ranking Indian officials. On the Vietnamese side, there were members of the high-ranking delegation on a State visit to the Republic of India.

The cavalry escorting the vehicle of President Tran Dai Quang and his wife entered the Presidential Palace amid the resounding sound of 21 gun salutes. President Ram Nath Kovind and his wife welcomed President Tran Dai Quang and his wife at the car park. The Director General of Protocol of India respectfully invited President Tran Dai Quang to step up to the podium.


After the Military Band played the National Anthems of Vietnam and India, the Captain of the Indian Army Guard of Honour invited President Tran Dai Quang to review the Guard of Honour.

At the end of the welcoming ceremony, President Tran Dai Quang gave an interview to the Indian press, mentioning the significance of his State visit to the Republic of India and the prospects for the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming years.

At noon the same day, at the Prime Minister's Office in New Delhi, President Tran Dai Quang had talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After the talks, President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Narendra Modi witnessed the exchange of Vietnam-India cooperation documents signed during this visit, including: Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute and the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership Center; Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of trade and economy between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of India; Action Plan on agricultural cooperation for the period 2018-2020.

President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a joint press conference to announce the results of their talks.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again welcomed President Tran Dai Quang on his State visit, affirming that the visit demonstrated his commitment to further strengthening the India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India-Vietnam relations date back thousands of years, rooted in cultural ties; today's generations are inheriting the fruits of the relationship built by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and President Ho Chi Minh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that during his talks with President Tran Dai Quang, the two sides discussed in detail all aspects of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including agreeing to increase trade turnover. India-Vietnam trade relations are growing strongly.

Concluding his visit to the Republic of India, at the invitation of President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Mohammad Abdul Hamid, President Tran Dai Quang and his wife will pay a State visit to the People's Republic of Bangladesh from March 4-6.
