(Baonghean.vn) - On July 25, 2014, the Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to review the first six months of the year and implement tasks for the last six months of 2014. Comrade Ho Ngoc Sy - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Director of the Department - chaired the conference.
In the first six months of 2014, the growth rate of production value reached 3.10% (compared to the target of 4.4%). Specifically: agriculture increased by 2.76%, forestry by 6.47%, and fisheries by 7.42%. Grain production reached 736,932 tons, an increase of 1.86% compared to the same period last year. Total output of live meat for slaughter was estimated at 110,000 tons (compared to the target of 209,000 tons), and fresh cow's milk production was estimated at 71,000 tons. Total seafood production in the first six months was estimated at 69,571 tons, an increase of 11.24% compared to the same period last year. Regarding the construction of new rural areas, to date, the entire province has 8 communes that have met all 19 criteria (achieving new rural area standards). ... However, the number of forest fires was higher than in previous years; livestock and poultry diseases and crop diseases remain complex, especially the small leaf-rolling caterpillar damaging the summer-autumn rice crop. The total number of livestock and poultry is increasing slowly; the area and yield of some crops are decreasing, such as winter corn and spring peanuts…
Regarding the tasks for the remaining months, the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requested that all departments and units under the department review their 2014 plans and tasks to organize implementation, striving to complete and exceed the 2014 plan; and at the same time, focus on developing the 2015 program and plan.
