Nearly 500 hectares of spring rice in the province are infected with rice blast disease on the leaves.

(Baonghean.vn) -According to statistics from the Provincial Plant Protection Department, as of the afternoon of February 27th, over 498 hectares out of 5,000 hectares of early spring rice crops in the province were infected with rice blast disease on the leaves.

The disease is mainly concentrated in three key areas: Nghi Loc (230 ha), Vinh City (over 200 ha), and Hung Nguyen (nearly 30 ha). In addition, the disease has now spread widely across fields in Do Luong, Nam Dan, Thanh Chuong, Quynh Luu, and Yen Thanh districts. Of these, over 330 ha are lightly infected, 129 ha are moderately infected, over 39 ha are severely infected, and 2.5 ha are completely destroyed. The common damage rate is 5-7%, with some areas reaching 15-30%, and localized areas reaching 50-70%, concentrated on the varieties Xi 23, NX 30, BC15, Syn 6, and TL6. To date, the entire province has organized preventative spraying on over 387 ha.

In the coming period, with warm and sunny weather conditions forecast to be favorable for the development of rice blast disease, the Department of Agriculture continues to direct districts to focus on spraying for prevention and to carry out rice care according to the correct procedures.
