(Baonghean.vn) - Currently in Nghe An province, the summer-autumn rice crop is in the heading-flowering-milk ripening stage, while the main rice crop is in the sowing-transplanting-heading stage. However, many types of pests and diseases have emerged and caused damage, most notably brown spot disease.

Currently, nearly 9,000 hectares of rice in the province are infected with the disease, including 7,913.3 hectares of summer-autumn rice and 899.6 hectares of autumn rice. The disease prevalence rate is 3-5%, with some areas reaching 30-40%. To date, localities have implemented control measures on nearly 6,000 hectares.

Forecasts indicate that the disease will continue to increase in both severity and scope, particularly in densely planted rice fields with high nitrogen fertilization. Local authorities should pay attention to areas where rice is infected with a rate of 10% or more, and guide farmers to control the disease using one of the following pesticides: Valydacin 3-5L, Cavil 50SC, Vida 5WP, Jinggangmeisu 5-10 WP, etc. For severely affected fields, a second application should be done 5-7 days after the first.
