The whole province strives to plant over 50 thousand hectares of winter crops.
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of August 5, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to deploy the 2013 winter crop production project.
In addition to some favorable conditions, the 2013 winter crop is determined to take place in difficult conditions. Input prices continue to increase, while the prices of many agricultural products do not increase, or even decrease. Weather developments are unpredictable, often with prolonged heavy rains; the residual source of pests from the summer-autumn crop is quite large.
The goal set for this winter crop is to successfully convert the crop structure, sow all the areas that could not be cultivated in the summer-autumn and winter-spring crops; strive to achieve the highest level in terms of area, productivity and output, contributing significantly to the implementation of the 2014 production plan. Accordingly, the whole province strives to sow 50,500 hectares, including 30,000 hectares of corn, 2,000 hectares of peanuts, 7,500 hectares of sweet potatoes and 10,500 hectares of vegetables and beans.
After discussion, the delegates reached a high consensus on the main solutions, including: arranging land suitable for each type of crop; planting early based on the development of storms and rains. Using good varieties, suitable for intensive farming goals; investing in balanced fertilizers, ensuring plant density and doing a good job of pest and disease prevention. In particular, with the characteristics of winter crop production, it is necessary to pay attention to doing a good job of irrigation.
Concluding the conference, Mr. Ho Ngoc Sy - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized that, in addition to the province's policies, districts, cities and towns need to have policies to support investment in production development, especially expanding the model of commercial potato cultivation and winter fish farming. Enterprises need to have policies to support funding for farmers in the context of low agricultural product prices...
