(Baonghean.vn) - At the conference to discuss solutions to improve the efficiency of seafood exploitation, processing and consumption, Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the growth rate of agricultural, forestry and fishery production value of the industry increased quite well, reaching 4.96% and GRDP increased by 4.99%, ranking 5th in the country, fishery increased by 9.54%.

On the morning of June 10, under the chairmanship of Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an online conference with 28 coastal provinces and cities nationwide on solutions to improve the efficiency of seafood exploitation, processing and consumption. Reduce exploitation rate, increase aquaculture output

Report at the conference,Directorate of FisheriesIt is reported that the total output of aquatic products in 2020 reached 3.85 million tons; in the first 3 months of 2021, the output reached 857.4 thousand tons; of which, marine exploitation reached 817.5 thousand tons, up 1.1% over the same period; inland exploitation reached 39.9 thousand tons (down 0.5% over the same period in 2020).

In 2020, the growth rate of aquatic production value reached 3.05% compared to 2019.Seafood export turnoverIn 2020, the country's export value reached 3.435 billion USD, an increase of 3.12% over the same period in 2019. In particular, some export value items increased sharply such as: shrimp, sea fish, crab, squid...

In the first 3 months of 2021, the export value of aquatic products alone reached 1.68 billion USD, equal to 103.3% over the same period in 2020. The whole country has 620 establishments.seafood processingindustrial scale, of which 415 factories and facilities meet export standards to Japan, the US, the EU and other demanding markets. Vietnam's seafood processing products are present in more than 176 markets worldwide.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said: In the past time, the Covid-19 pandemic, unfavorable logistics, increased transportation costs; slow application of technology in exploitation and post-harvest preservation, and difficulties in removing the EU yellow card are obstacles affecting the fisheries industry. However, in the first 5 months of the year, agriculture, rural areas, farmers as well as the export situation achieved positive results. From now until 2030, the set goal is to reduce the exploitation rate, increase aquaculture output and promote aquaculture development to achieve the growth target of the agricultural sector.

Fisheries is a field with much room for development, therefore, in the coming time, it is necessary to implement the 2017 Fisheries Law and its guiding documents and recommendations of the EC. Nghe An ranks 5th in the country in terms of growth rate of agricultural, forestry and fishery production value.

Nghe An is a province with a coastline of 82 km, with 6 estuaries stretching from North to South, a province with a rapidly developing fishery in the North Central region and beyond. The fishing grounds are large, the sea area is up to 4,230 square nautical miles, the aquatic resources are diverse and abundant. Currently, the whole province has 3,448 fishing vessels, the total capacity of fishing vessels in the whole province is 699,032 CV, the average capacity is 191.19 CV/vessel, the number of offshore fishing vessels is 1,215, accounting for 35.24%, the average capacity is 473.25 CV/vessel.

Nghe An province's processing industry includes frozen processing, fish meal processing, fish sauce production, canned fish production and dried onion processing.

Total seafood output in 2020 reached 233 tons, up 4.02% compared to 2019, of which marine seafood exploitation reached 179 thousand tons, up 6.09%; total estimated value reached 3,427,998 billion VND. In the first 5 months of 2021, total seafood exploitation output reached 75,564 tons, up 9.39% compared to 2020, estimated value reached 1,507,113 billion VND.
