The crime of the man who wanted to kill his wife at work
His wife left after an argument. Dung was angry and took a hammer and knife to find her, seriously injuring her.
On February 5, Ho Chi Minh City People's Court sentenced Ngo Van Dung to 9 years in prison for murder.
Dung's actions were considered hooliganism, his wife's death was unintentional... but the consequences of the case were somewhat limited so the court reduced part of the defendant's sentence.

Investigation results determined that Dung and Ms. Thanh had been married for more than 15 years and had two children together. Early last year, conflicts often arose, and the wife left home to live outside.
Angry, on the morning of April 28, 2017, after taking his child to school, Dung went home to get a hammer and bought more knives to go to the store on Le Van Viet Street (District 9) - where Ms. Thanh worked.
Dung told his wife to go home, but she refused. He then asked Thanh to write a power of attorney giving him full authority to decide on the house they were living in. After waiting for his wife to sign the document, Dung asked, "What are you going to do with the two children now?"
When his wife said "If you like it, I'll keep it", Dung angrily took out a hammer and hit Thanh on the head, breaking the handle. His wife ran away, he chased after her and stabbed her many times with a knife.
Hearing the cry for help, people ran to help.Dung took a knife and stabbed himself in the chest, causing minor injuries.Ms. Thanh was taken to the emergency room, luckily escaped death but suffered 62% injuries.
The victim initially requestedDung paid more than 200 million VND in compensation for medical expenses and mental damage. At court, she said that because her husband's family was in financial difficulty, she agreed to reduce the compensation to 150 million VND. She left this money for her family to raise her two children.
"He has realized his crime and regrets what he did. I hope the court will consider reducing his sentence," the wife said.
In court, Dung admitted his crime and asked for a light sentence so he could return to his child. During the sentencing hearing, he cried many times when he heard his eldest daughter asking him about his condition.
