The Moon turns crimson when a partial lunar eclipse occurs. |
A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are in a nearly straight line. The moonlight is dimmed and the Moon appears to be partially absent. From Earth, the Moon appears red, which is why it is called a blood moon.
The area where this partial lunar eclipse can be observed includes most of Asia, the east coast of Africa and all of Europe. Vietnam is in the area where this phenomenon can be fully observed.
The lunar eclipse is expected to last for 5 hours, starting at 22:50 on August 7, when the penumbral lunar eclipse will appear, when the Moon will turn a pale red color. At 00:22 on the morning of August 8, the partial lunar eclipse will begin, reaching its peak at 1:20, when the Moon will turn a deep red color. At 2:18, the partial lunar eclipse will end, and at 3:50, the penumbral lunar eclipse will end, marking the end of this amazing astronomical phenomenon.
Unlike solar eclipses, astronomy enthusiasts can observe lunar eclipses with the naked eye. Be careful to choose a place with little light and air pollution, and check the weather forecast before observing this phenomenon.
