'I see yellow flowers on green grass' is the cultural event of the year

Director Vitor Vu's film is in the Top 10 typical cultural, sports and tourism events of 2015.

On December 29, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the results of the vote for the 10 most outstanding events of the industry this year. The results were voted on by 121 journalists and representatives of press agencies nationwide.

I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass by director Victor Vu, adapted by screenwriter Viet Linh from the novel of the same name by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh, is in the Top 10. The film is considered "the first film of the State-invested, privately produced model to create a buzz in terms of artistic quality, social impact and economic efficiency".

The film is set in a South Central Vietnamese countryside in the late 1980s, revolving around the relationship between two brothers Thieu - Tuong and Man. The work weaves a warm childhood story in the poor countryside of Vietnam. The film set a record for its popularity at domestic cinemas. The film was released on October 2, and has so far earned more than 80 billion VND. The film also won the most important award - "Golden Lotus" - for feature films at the awards ceremony in early December. I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass also brought Victor Vu the title of "Outstanding Director in a Feature Film".

Some other cultural events honored in the year include: the Art Parade program to celebrate the 70th anniversary of National Day with the theme "Vietnam - Aspiration for Peace", UNESCO inscribed the Multinational Heritage of Tug of War Rituals and Games (Vietnam, Korea, Philippines and Cambodia) in the list of Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the first time the State recognized the title of Meritorious Artist, honoring living human treasures in the field of intangible cultural heritage. Besides, there are events on tourism and sports.

List of 10 typical Cultural, Sports and Tourism events in 2015:

1.The Art Parade program celebrating the 70th anniversary of National Day with the theme Vietnam - Aspiration for Peace honoring the cultural diversity and aspiration for peace of the Vietnamese people has left a deep impression on the people of the whole country and international friends.

2.The exhibition 70 years of socio-economic achievements is the largest ever, with many artifacts showing the country's development achievements in the fields of national defense, political security, economy, education, culture, society... being displayed for the first time.

3.Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park (Quang Binh) was recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage for the second time and is the only World Natural Heritage in Vietnam to date that meets three criteria for biodiversity.

4. UNESCO inscribed the multinational heritage of Tug of War rituals and games (Vietnam, Korea, Philippines and Cambodia) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This is the first time Vietnam has successfully participated in building a multinational heritage dossier.

5.For the first time, the State recognized the title of Meritorious Artisan, honoring living human treasures in the field of intangible cultural heritage.

6."I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass" became the first film of the State investment and private production model to create a buzz in terms of artistic quality, social effects and economic efficiency.

7.The Government issued Resolutions on temporary visa exemption for citizens of 6 European countries entering Vietnam, creating a breakthrough for the tourism industry in developing key markets of high-spending visitors.

8ABC News - The American television channel with global coverage broadcast live Good Morning America from Son Doong Cave and En Cave (Quang Binh) for 90 minutes, immediately attracting the attention of international tourists.

9.The 28th SEA Games was the most successful SEA Games in the history of Vietnamese Sports when for the first time Olympic sports contributed to 87% of the gold medal winning sports.

10.Anh Vien is in the top 5 best female swimmers in Asia, and is nicknamed "Iron Girl" by the international press.
