Tom Hanks is producing a film about Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Actor Tom Hanks will become a producer on a film about the 2016 US presidential election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

HBO's new television project will recreate the race for the White House and Donald Trump's unexpected victory over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

According to AFP, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman have agreed to produce the film. The film will be based on the book by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, which is currently in the editing process.

The film will provide a truthful and comprehensive account of the ups and downs of both Trump and Hillary during the recent US presidential election campaign. In addition, the film will also feature interesting comparisons between Donald Trump and his predecessor, former President Barack Obama.

The screenwriter and the two lead actors who will play Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in this film have not yet been revealed. Many speculate that Alec Baldwin, the star who frequently impersonates and mimics Donald Trump's mannerisms and clothing on the television show Saturday Night Live, will most likely play Trump.

HBO has also produced several films about elections, such as *Recount* (2008), about the 2000 US election when George W. Bush defeated Al Gore; and *Game Change* (2012), about Republican candidate John McCain's 2008 campaign. These films are all based on books by Halperin and Heilemann.

An HBO representative stated, "We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, authors of their bestselling book, *Game Change*. This acclaimed work has created a compelling political report, telling stories both inside and outside the presidential campaign."

Director Jay Roach was chosen to direct this politically charged television series. He is also the man behind the success of the film Game Change. Hollywood legend Tom Hanks also served as a producer on this 2012 film, which won an Emmy Award for HBO that same year.

Jay Roach is also a familiar and reputable name in political films. Most recently, with his film All The Way last year, he was praised by film critics for his successful and impressive portrayal of former President Lyndon Johnson.
